After discussion and consideration, Ward Uggerud made a motion, second by Robert Schwartz and unanimously carried, to
approve the replacement of an existing 12’ by 16’ screened porch with a 12’ by 22’ three season porch 27’ from the ordinary high
water level, which includes a pitched roof tied into and having a maximum height no greater than the existing cabin’s roof. The
variance as approved will not obstruct the view from the adjacent properties. The proposed development will be no closer to the
ordinary high water level than the existing development as depicted on the drawing submitted with the application.

The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, August 8, 2013, with the following persons in attendance:

Called to Order - Steve Schierer, Chair called the meeting of the Board of Adjustment to order at 6:30 p.m.
Minutes Approved - The Board of Adjustment approved the minutes of July 11, 2013 meeting as mailed with the
correction of one of the applicant’s name. It was noted that the change had already been made.
The Board of Adjustment considered the following applications for variance:
Terry and Brenda Everson - Approved the variance application as requested with a condition. (6:33 p.m.)
Terry and Brenda Everson, part of Government Lot 3, Section 24 of Buse Township by Swan Lake, requested a
variance of 16’ from the required road right-of-way setback of 20’ for the placement of a detached garage 4’ from the
road right-of-way. The audience was polled with Steve Austvold speaking for the variance as requested. After
discussion and consideration, Thomas Lee made a motion, second by Robert Schwartz and unanimously carried, to
approve a variance of 16’ from the required road right-of-way setback of 20’ for the placement of a detached garage 4’
from the road right-of-way with the condition that no more than 25% of the total eligible lot area can be covered with
impervious surfaces. The variance as approved will provide the applicants with the ability to enjoy the same rights
and privileges as others in this immediate area.
Don and Laura Shelley - Approved the variance application with a modification. (6:47 p.m.)
Don and Laura Shelley, part of Lots 3 and 4 Block 2 Crystal - Lida Beaches, Lake Lida in Lida Township, requested
the following: We need to install a new holding tank. In order to meet all other setbacks, lot line 10’, road right-of-way
10’, well 50’, we are asking to place the new tank 5’ from the garage. The required setback is 10’. Ross Seifert,
System Installer appeared with the applicants. The audience was polled with Ralph Hagen speaking for the variance
as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Thomas Lee and carried
with Michael Harris voting no, to approve the placement of the proposed holding tank 5’ from the lot line, 10’ from the
garage, 50’ from the well and 10’ from the lot line. The approved location is the best location, if not the only location,
for the proposed holding tank. The approved location should not negatively impact the adjacent property.
J David A. Meier - Approved the variance application as requested. (6:52 p.m.)
David A. Meier, part of Government Lot 6, Section 2 of St, Olaf Township by Long Lake, requested the following:
