Bradly D. Larson - Variance application approved as requested with a condition. (7:45 p.ni.)
Bradly D. Larson, Lot 2 Block! Lakewood Point, Little Pelican Lake in Dunn Township, requested the following:
Given this lake lot's location on a point, a structure setback variance is requested to build a garage 25’ closer to the
lake (75’ structure setback rather than 100’) than ordinance requirements. New proposed garage to go in same
location as cun ent sand volleyball court. It will not obstruct any views of neighbors. We are also asking for a 5’
variance to be 15’ from a private road easement. (The road easement is access to my brother’s home on the point. He
has no problem with this.) Julie Larson appear with the applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled with
no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a
motion, seconded by Darren Newville and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 25’ from the required
ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the construction of a 30’ by 55' single story garage 75’ from the
ordinary high water level and at least 20’ from any road right-of-way. It was noted that this is a unique situation and
an isolated lot. The variance as approved does not directly or indirectly grant any other variances for the proposed
development.^ ..fClarence & Carol Lind - Variance application approved as requested. (7:50 p.ni.)
Clarence & Carol Lind, Lot 5 Art’s North Shore, Marion Lake in Rush Lake Township, requested the following: To
modify the existing roof line within the existing roof line. The modification will not increase the impervious surface
area within the shore impact zone. Modification is 40’ from ordinary high w'ater level. Clarence Lind represented the
application at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as
requested. After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, seconded by David Wass and
unanimously carried, to approve the variance as requested in the application dated May 18, 2016 and as depicted on
the drawings submitted with the variance application. The proposal is basically a roof line change. The variance as
approved does not directly or indirectly grant any other variances for the proposed development.
Joseph Fritz - Denied. (7:54 p.m.)
Joseph Fritz, Lot 2 Block 1 Adam’s Addition, Dead Lake in Dead Lake Township, requested the following:
Variance of 80 feet from required 200 foot setback for placement of dwelling and non-dwelling structure at
120 feet from ordinary high water level to avoid wetlands. May 12, 2016 meeting - Paul Richards and
Andrea Fritz appeared with the applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled with the following
individuals addressing the applicant's request: Dennis and Carolyn Reynolds, Tim Sullivan and Dennis
Hansclman. Letters and emails from the following individuals were read for the record: Curt Adams, Jack
and Donna Galvin, Dennis Hanselman, Acting Chainnan of the Dead Lake Association, Cheryl Hams,
Michael and Judy Herzog, Dennis and Connie Loecken, Carey C. Lund, Diane Matejka-Lund, and Dennis
Reynolds. It should be noted that some of the letters also contained photographs. J'hc letters and emails
referenced above are available for public inspection at the Land and Resource Department. Concern was
expressed with obstructing the view from the neighboring property, with the wetland determination and the
need to require a 200’ setback. After consideration and discussion, Paul Larson made a motion, second by
Thomas Lee and unanimously earned, with the verbal approval of the applicant, to table this hearing until
the June 9, 2016 meeting for additional review and explanation from the Land and Resource Department
regarding the area on the applicant's lot that has been classified as a wetland. If after this additional review
the area is still detennined as a wetland area additional infonmation regarding alternatives should be provide
and discussed (wetland bank etc.). The Dead Lake Association requested that they be contacted and
allowed to be in attendance when the Land and Resource Department reviews the applicant’s property.
