Glori and Michael French - Approved
Glori and Michael French, Horace, ND, requested,a variance of 68’ from the required ordinary high
water level setback of 100’ for the placement of a dwelling with a 14’ deck 32’ from the ordinary high
water level. The property is described as Lot 1 Block 1, Sunset Beach, Lake Lizzie in Dunn Township.
A letter from Michael and Peggy Osmundson in favor of the request was read for the record. The
audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was
made by Cecil Femling, seconded by Randall Mann and unanimously carried, to approve the
placement of the proposed dwelling and deck, as depicted on the applicants’ drawing, noting that all
portions of the proposed development will be behind the existing stringline.
Paul and Joyce Motschenbacher - Denied
Paul and Joyce Motschenbacher, Perham, MN, requested a variance to cover more than 25% of the
total lot area with impervious surface. The applicant is proposing the enclosure of the lower portion of ^
an existing 4’ by 16’ deck area. The property is described as Lot 12, Jerry’s Breezy Beach, Rush Lake
in Rush Lake Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request.
After consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, seconded by John Everts and carried with
George Walter voting no, to deny the variance as requested noting that impervious surface coverage
already covers more than 25% of the total lot area.
Don Brakke - Approved
Don Brakke, Hickson, ND, requested a variance to replace an existing storage shed with a garage
approximately 35’ from the bay. The property is described as part of Government Lot 5, Section 27 of
Lida Township by Lake Lida. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request.
After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Randall Mann and unanimously
carried, to approve a variance of 34’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the
replacement of an existing storage shed with a 24’ by 24’ garage approximately 4T from the ordinary
high water level (water), on the bay side portion of the applicant’s property, with the condition that any
•other existing shed or sheds will be no closer to the bay side water than the slab of the proposed
garage and with the condition that the shed on skids must be removed. It should be noted that the
Board of Adjustment is approving the location of the existing slab, which may or may not be 4T from
the ordinary high water level (water). It should also be noted that the granting of this variance would
provide the applicant with a reasonable use of his property. Hardship is a substandard lot of record.
Karen Novak - Approved
Karen Novak, Battle Lake, MN, requested a variance of 52’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 100’ for an addition to an existing dwelling 48’ from the ordinary high water level and a
variance to cover 28.46% of the total lot area with impervious surface. The maximum allowable
coverage is 25%. The property is described as Lot C, Dursch’s Silver Bay, Silver Lake in Everts
Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Les Estes and unanimously carried, to
approve an addition to an existing structure being no closer to the ordinary high water level than the
existing structure and being at least 10’ from the side lot line with the condition that no' more than 25%
of the applicant’s total lot area can be covered with impervious surface after completion of the proposed
project.
