Gary and Diane Reveling - Approved/Denied
Gary and Diane Reveling, Moorhead, MN, requested the following: “to add an addition (12’ by 13’) from
my cabin to my boathouse. This area is currently a patio with a concrete slab. Closet point of new
structure 31 to 32’ from current lake level.” The property is described as Lot 12, Lakeview Beach,
Pelican Lake in Scambler Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the
request. After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by Cecil
Femling and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested noting that this is a very
congested area and to approve the variances necessary to place a privacy fence between the corner of
the boat house and the corner of the existing cabin adjacent to the concrete patio.
Dan W. Elton - Approved
Dan W. Elton, Pelican Rapids, MN, requested a variance of 2’ and a variance of 4’ from the required lot
line setback of 10’ for the placement of the southeast corner of the structure 8’ from the south lot line
and for the placement of the northerly wall of the structure 6’ from the north lot line, a variance of 2’
from the required lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of the southeast corner of a second story
addition above the garage 8’ from the south side lot line and a variance to place an addition to an
existing drain field within 10’ of the road right-of-way as recommended by the installer. The property is
described as Lot 32 and the South 25’ of Lot 33, Lakeview Beach, Pelican Lake in Scambler Township.
The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. Letters from the following
individuals were presented for consideration by the Board of Adjustment: Richard West, County
Engineer, Gregory A. Seurer, and Michael Ostbye. The applicant stated that the requested variances
for the North side has been withdrawn and that the hearing should focus on those variances that
pertain to the South side. After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson,
seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve the variances as requested with the
exception of the proposed variances for the planned improvements on the Northerly side of the
applicant’s existing structure.
Susan Jensen - Denied
Susan Jensen, Ottertail, MN, and Fred Fudpucker, Otter Tail, MN, requested a variance to subdivide
two existing parcels, as shown on the sketch filed with the County Auditor’s office, into two parcels
identified as Tracts C and D on the registered surveyor’s drawing on file with the County Auditor’s
office. Tract C would have approximately 25,510 square feet of area and approximately 187.39’ of
frontage. Tract D would have approximately 25,521 square feet of area and approximately 190.08’ of
frontage. The minimum size required for platted lots on a Natural Environment Lake is 200’ of water
frontage and 80,000 square feet of area. The property is described as part of Government Lot 6,
Section 34 of Rush Lake Township by Mud Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the request. After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson,
seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested as the granting
of the variance would create very substandard lots having no public road access.

RE: Lot on Mud Lake (56-215), Known as Tract D, Section 34 of Rush Lake Township
Dear Mr. Foltz:
After our onsite visit on April 26, 1999,1 have determined the following:
1. The lot is on Mud Lake (NE), not the River.
2. The string line does apply, but the closest to the water you can build is 100’. If you
want to be closer a variance would have to be approved.
3. A variance approved on January 8, 1998 allows for the septic system on this lot to
be only T from the rear lotline/road right-of-way (see enclosed sheet).
I have enclosed a Site Permit Application for your use, but you need to be the recorded
owner before we can issue a Permit to you.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Kyle West^gard
Inspector
