A very serious problem has been created for Mr. Jacob and for me because owners of land between us and the lake have, without authority, filled in their land right to the highway and have eliminated the ditch. This has stopped proper drainage to the lake and has caused water to back up on Mr. Jacob's land and on my land which has made it intolerable. I have requested the Town Board to require these owners who have filled in the ditches either to remove the fill or to install adequate sized culverts so as to permit proper drainage and to avoid accumulation of water on the land north of theirs, which includes mine and Mr. Jacob's. This is a matter which I also believe is within the province of Shoreland Management. It is not only unfair to the neighbors of these people who have filled in the ditches, but it is also a violation of the law and is the obligation of the appropriate authorities to take action without delay. This problem has been going on for several years although many complaints have been lodged. to take action to require compliance with the law. Board does not do it, then Shoreland Management must and, in any event, should require compliance with the law whether or not the Town Board acts.
