MOTION AS FOLLOWS:
Motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 6’
from the required south lot line setback of 10’ and a variance of 1’ from the required west lot line setback of 10’ for the
construction of an addition to an existing shed being 6’ from the south lot line and being 9’ from the west lot line.
Hardship being a substandard lot of record. It was ^ted that the granting of the variances will not establish a
precedence. /

Dennis Dean Saunders - Approved
Dennis Dean Saunders, Blair, NE, requested a variance of 6’ from the required south lot line setback of 10’ and a
variance of 1' from the required west lot line setback of 10’ for the construction of an addition to an existing shed
being 6’ from the south lot line and being 9’ from the west lot line. The property is described as part of Government
Lot 1, Section 26 of Rush Lake Township by Rush Lake. Henry Smith represented the applicant at the public hearing.
The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by
John Everts, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 6’ from the required south
lot line setback of 10’ and a variance of T from the required west lot line setback of 10’ for the construction of an
addition to an existing shed being 6’ from the south lot line and being 9’ from the west lot line. Hardship being a
substandard lot of record. It was noted that the granting of the variances will not establish a precedence.
Greg and Joanne Stich - Approved
Greg and Joanne Stich, Battle Lake, MN, requested a variance of 19’ from the required County Road #72 right-of-way
setback of 20’ and a variance of 15’ from the required Old County Road #1 right-of-way setback of 20’ for the
construction of a 52’ by 34’ cement pad with a 42’ by 24’ canopy being approximately T from the County Road #72
right-of-way and being approximately 5’ from the Old County Road #1 right-of-way. It should be noted that the canopy
will be placed 5’ inside of the cement pad. The property is described as Sub Lots 1, 2 and 3 of Government Lot 4,
Section 32 of Amor Township by Otter Tail Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the
request. A letter from Richard West, Otter Tail County Highway Engineer, with suggested recommendations was read
for the record. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Robert Schwartz and
unanimously carried, to grant a variance of 19’ from the required County Road #72 right-of-way setback of 20’ and a
variance of 15’ from the required Old County Road #1 right-of-way setback of 20’ for the construction of a 52’ by 34’
cement pad with a 42’ by 24’ canopy being approximately 1’ from the County Road #72 right-of-way and being
approximately 5’ from the Old County Road #1 right-of-way with the following conditions as stated in the County
Engineer’s letter:
1. the approaches to the pump island must be located as far North and West of the County Road #72/Old County
Road #1 intersection as possible, and
2. the construction of the pump island must not obstructed the drainage from the county road system.
It was noted that that the applicants’ proposal has been inspected by the Otter Tail County Highway Engineer and his
recommendations/suggestions were received favorably by the applicants.
Walter James Leaders - Withdrawn
Walter James Leaders, Sebeka, MN, requested a variance of 60 to 62’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 100’ for the placement of a dwelling approximately 38 to 40' from the ordinary high water level. The
property is described as part of Government Lot 4, Section 18 of Leaf Lake Township by West Leaf Lake. Prior to the
scheduled public hearing the applicant requested permission to withdraw his application. After consideration, motion
was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to accept the applicant’s request to
withdraw his variance application and to refund the recording fee portion of his application fee.
