Alvin and Jean Meier - Approved with condition.
Motion was made by Randall Mann, second by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 4’
from the required north lot line setback of 40’ for the construction of a water oriented accessory structure (sunroom)
36’ from the north property line with the condition that the height, width and area requirements for a water oriented
accessory structure cannot be exceeded. It was noted that the only variance required for the proposed development
is from the north property line and that the structure to the north is ahead of the proposed development, therefore, the
view from the adjacent structure to the north will not be obstructed by the applicants’ proposed project. Hardship is
the terrain and topography of the applicants’ lot.

Alvin and Jean Meier - Approved with condition.
Alvin and Jean Meier, Ottertail, MN, requested a variance of 4’ from the required north lot line setback
of 40’ for the construction of a sun room 36’ from the north property line. It should be noted that the
sunroom will be on the lakeside of the existing dwelling. The property is described as part of Sub Lot 5
of Government Lots 3 and 4, Section 23, Rush Lake Township by Rush Lake. Letters form Earl and
Linda Foss and Marlyn and Edna Hennen in favor of the applicant’s request were read for the record.
The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion
was made by Randall Mann, second by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance
of 4’ from the required north lot line setback of 40’ for the construction of a water oriented accessory
structure (sunroom) 36’ from the north property line with the condition that the height, width and area
requirements for a water oriented accessory structure cannot be exceeded. It was noted that the only

Dennis Edwards - Approved
Dennis Edwards, Wolverton, MN, requested a variance of 6’ from the required lot line setback of 10’ for
the construction of a garage on the back lot of Lot 7 that will be 4’ from the north property line. It should
be noted that placing the garage 4' from the north property line will place the garage in line with
garages on either side of the applicant and will also provide enough footage for the construction of a
garage 26’ in length and still be setback 20’ from the road. The property is described as Lot 7,
Kozelnik’s Beach Second Addition, Big McDonald Lake in Edna Township. Letters from Gerald (Jerry)
Lowe in support of the applicant’s request were read for the record. The audience was polled with no
one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by David Holmgren,
second by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 6’ from the required lot line
setback of 10’ for the construction of a 26’ by 30’ garage on the back lot of Lot 7, Kozelnik’s Beach
Second Addition, which will be located 4’ from the north property line. It was noted that because of the
nature of the property to the north no development would occur behind the proposed garaged.
Hardship is the terrain features of the applicant’s property.
