This filling proposal has the potential of altering the runout condition here with some poten tial for flooding. Such filling so close to the stream with a well kept lawn could increase nutrient concentrations in the stream. Additionally, the site is a posted spawning area which would be adversly affected by such fill. Thus this office must recom mend this request be not approved. Site 2 - Lake Lida Donald Hau The applicant proposes to cut away a major portion of this bank. I we all agreed it would be better to flatten the pushed up portion of the ice ridge to meet the exist ing ground corning down to the lake and riprap with 10^-15" rock ho more than 5.0 ft. into the water and about 1.5-2.0 ft. high at a 3:1 slope. After discussion with Curt Sproul and LANDS AND FORESTRY ENFORCEMENT AND FIELD SERVICE • WATERS, SOILS, AND MINERALS PARKS AND RECREATION ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES GAME AND FISH I 'i-j! Page 2 Sept, 3, 1980 Lake Marion - David Berg The applicant proposes to remove a hogsback for a total of 2,000 cubic yards of excavation and place the fill in a Type VI wetland adjacent to the lake. The site is extremely steep and potential for erosion is high. The low wetland area has already been half filled unfortunately. This low wetland area serves a very important filtering function to Lake Marion. It appears that well over 2 sq. miles of agricultural land runoff drains through this wetland basin. With it's filtration capacity already significantly reduced by the filled lot on the east side, I must recommend this application be denied. I believe the applicant has mare than ample room to build without excavation on the west side of this property. Thank you for your consideration of these comments.Sinb^ely, Site 3 Terrance R.
