John Everts stated that there is room to either build up or on the other three sides. The Hofland’s stated that the
west side is where they want to build because of lack of privacy the other way because of the right-a-way. A letter |
was read by John Everts from Cindy Dewar’s, Hofland’s neighbor stating her approval for the addition. It was noted by
Mark Steuart that the road was there when they purchased the land .that there was no hardship established. The '

Judy K. Johnson and Jeff Jenne - Approved
Judy K. Johnson and Jeff Jenne, Dent, MN, requested a variance to subdivide two metes and bounds parcels of
less than 5 acres from an existing 35.33 acre tract. Parcel A, as identified on the registered surveyor’s drawing;
would be approximately 2.53 acres and Parcel B, as identified on the registered surveyor’s drawing, would be
approximately 80,788 square feet. Both parcels would be serviced by a 33’ entrance road easement. The
property is described as part of Government Lot 4, Section 35 of Star Lake Township by Dead Lake. Clem
Hendrickson the land surveyor was the spokesperson for the applicants. He stated that there was no real
purpose for a new road to be built. Cecil Femling stated that if the applicants would agree to a 66 ft right to be
dedicated to the public that he would agree to the proposal. Ms Johnson was present and she agreed to the 66 ft
right away. Board member John Everts made the motion that it be approved and David Holmgren seconded the
motion. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. The proposal was unanimously
agreed upon by the board.
Kevin Christianson - Approved
Kevin Christianson, Fargo, ND, requested a variance to install a 24-foot bituminous roadway versus a 32-foot wide
access roadway. The property is described as Sunlight Beach, Pelican Lake in Dunn Township. The request for
the bituminous driveway was made by Mr. Christianson to preserve the habitat and to keep the road private.
There is only 3 families that live on the road basically during the summer months only. They were directed to the
Board of Adjustments by Bill Kalar, There was a letter read by John Everts from Dunn Township in favor of the
proposal. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion
was made by Randall Mann to approve the request with Cecil Femling seconding the motion. All votes were
unanimously voted on.
Don and Sandy Fudge - Tabled
Don and Sandy Fudge, Richville, MN, requested a variance of 60 to 75’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 200’ for the construction of a dwelling, with an attached garage, 125 to 140’ from the ordinary high
water level. The property is described as part of Government Lot 1, Section 15 of Edna Township by Rusch Lake.
John Everts stated that Rusch lake was classified as a natural environment lake so any structures need to be set
back 200 feet from the lakeshore. It was stated by John Everts that there was plenty of room to build elsewhere
without an variance. He motioned that the application be denied. George Hausske from Land & Resource had a
discussion with the Fudge’s where the high water level is . The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts to table the application for 60 days so
the Fudge’s could discuss at more length with the Land & Resource office about the high water level with the
motion being seconded by Mark Steuart. The vote was carried unanimously.

variance of 10’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’. The property is described as part of
Government Lot 4, Section 5 of Rush Lake Township by Marion Lake. John Everts stated that there is room to
either build up or on the other three sides. The Hofland’s stated that the west side is where they want to build
because of lack of privacy the other way because of the right-a-way. A letter was read by John Everts from Cindy
Dewar’s, Hofland’s neighbor stating her approval for the addition. It was noted by Mark Steuart that the road was
there when they purchased the land ,that there was no hardship established. The audience was polled with no
