Variance Request I have prepared a computer scale diagram to go along with ariel photographs for this variance request. Last year, my wife and I added a screened in porch to enjoy the lake. The obvious place to put a porch was to attach it on the south end of our existing home, where there was an existing deck and stairway going down to the lake along the side of the house. In this second request, I am proposing that we would be allowed to extend our house 12 feet to the north for an enlarged master bedroom, V2 bathroom and walk-in closet. 1 would not be asking to extend the front (lakeside) deck. This proposed extension is parallel to the lake front and not any closer than already exist. In looking at the scale diagram and photographs, you can see that the ‘String line” between my two next-door neighbors almost directly splits my front deck, which is at present, 6 feet wide. The distance that my home is from the lake is from 36-39 feet and if you include the decks, it is 30-33 feet away from the normal high water level. I realize that is inside the “impact zone” of 50 feet, but 1 will say that with the exception of the neighbors to the south, Mark and Janet Fuder, most all of the homes along the lake to the north of me are even closer. Ray and Val Schmitt, the nearest neighbors to the north is 36 feet away from the water and if you consider his front deck is 10 feet wide, his home is 26 feet from the lake. The next neighbor to the north beyond Schmitt’s is. Brad and Jill Anderson, which their house is only 28 feet from the lake. I did not go down the shore to measure each house but many/most of the homes along lake to the north are definitely “sub-standard lots of record”, as my home is. I am asking for the variance of 64 feet from the setback of 100 feet to build my screen porch and to extend the front deck. None of the new construction 1 propose is any closer to the lake than already exists.^ 1 again just want to extend the house to the north parallel to the water’s edge. 1 have again checked with both of my immediate neighbors about the bedroom addition, Mark Fuder and Ray Schmitt. Neither of them or their spouses objects to the proposed addition, nor would it affect the view from their respective houses. The proposed addition will not have a basement but rather a crawl space underneath it, just like the screen porch addition that we did last year. If you approve this addition, we will be right at 25% of impervious surface to our existing property. We will have no further requests for additional construction as long as.we own this property and I appreciate your careful consideration to my proposal. ! The obvious place to put a porch is to attach it on the south end of our existing home, where there is an existing deck and stairway going down to the lake along the side of the house. In this request, I am proposing that we would be allowed to extend our house 10 feet to the south for the screen porch. 1 would also like to extend the front (lakeside) deck 8 feet to the south. The reason that I would wish have the front deck extended, is to allow access from a door of the new screen porch to my front deck and front door. So, I would be able to walk through the porch out a door on the lakeside and onto the front deck. I would not want to extend the front deck the full 10 feet width of the screen porch, but rather only enough to catch the width of the door that exits and enters the lakeside of the screen porch.
