Minutes Approved - May 2nd, 1996 and June 6th, 1996 Hearing no corrections or additions to the minutes of the May 2nd, 1996 meeting or to the minutes of the June 6th, 1996 meeting, motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by Robert Schwartz and unanimously carried, to approve the minutes of the above referenced meetings as mailed. The following variance requests were heard: Martelle B. Sherman - Denied Martelle B. Sherman, Richville, MN, requested a variance of 4’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of a 12’ by 20’ garage 6’ from the side lot line. The property is described as Lot 7, Beauty Beach, Otter Tail Lake in Amor Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship had been shown. The applicant was granted until August 1st, 1996, to remove that portion of the garage that is closer than 10' to the side lot line. LarryO. Johnson- Tabled Larry O. Prior to the meeting the applicant submitted a letter requesting that his variance request be tabled until the June 13th, 1996 meeting. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to table the applicant’s request until the June 13th, 1996, meeting. Wayne and Janice Ward - Approved Wayne and Janice Ward, Mooreton, ND, requested a variance of 63’ from the required side lot line setback of 65’, a variance of 29’ from the required side lot line setback of 65’ and a variance of 18’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 20’ for the repair of a water - oriented accessory staicture located 2' from the west lot line, 36’ from the east lot line and 2’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as Lot 24 and a triangular tract 15’ on the north and 0’ on the south of Lot 25, Deer Lake Beach in Everts Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Robert Schwartz and carried with John Everts voting no, to approve the variance as requested, noting that the applicant’s proposed project is a repair project, with the condition that the repairs must be limited to the front end and to the one corner damaged by the ice and that the project cannot add more than one block of height to the existing structure. It was noted that past weather conditions and the late arrival of spring has made it impossible for board members to adequately view the applicant’s property. Mark A. Johnson - Approved Mark A. Johnson, Phoenix, AZ, requested a variance of approximately 8’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for an addition to an existing cabin approximately 67’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as Lot 11 and the west half of Lot 12, Recreation Beach, Otter Tail Lake in Amor Township. Kenneth Kvamme represented that applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. An unsigned letter opposing the variance request was read for the record. A letter from Knut Swee in favor of the applicant’s request was read for the record. After consideration, motion was made by George Walter, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to allow the existing addition to the applicant’s cabin so long as no portion of the addition exceeds the string line and with the following conditions: 1. That any part of the addition that exceeds the string line must be removed by October 1st, 1996, 2. That the old cabin identified on the applicant’s drawing must be removed by October 1st, 1996, 3. That the old shed identified on the applicant’s drawing must be removed by October 1st, 1996, and, 4. The applicant must apply for an after the fact site permit for the addition.
