The problem appears to be one caused by bank sluffing or sliding. This is evidenced by a ridge of soil built up at the base of the slope. Also there is no silting evidence in the lake at the base of the trail going to the lake. There appears to be two or three options that can be used. They are 1. seeding the bank area in question with a grass mixture that has a variety of grassed such as, annual rye grass, kentucky bluegrass and creeping red fescue. The seeding should then be mulched with a fiber mulch. Some added protection could be gained by planting 12 or so shrubs also, 2. the second option is construction of a retaining wall. At least two levels of walls would be needed. Both Mr. Cavanagh and myself favor trying to seed it first. The retaining wall can be used if seeding fails.
