Top of bank area along lakeshore is unique due to an old road
which was cut down through the trees to the lake level. This bank area
would be improved by easing the hard edge of the bank and by providing
sod and rock rip-rap drainage as needed along the south side of the
proposed residence.
Bluff impact zone & setbacks have been reviewed w/ Shoreland
Management personel and are not easily describable due to the old road
cut to lake. Proposed home will be setback from bluff as required, at
south end of lake side.

RE: Charles Cavanagh Lakeshore Big Pine Lake
Dear Bill;
I looked at the bank area in question with Mr. Cavangh.
The problem appears to be one caused by bank sluffing or sliding. This is evidenced
by a ridge of soil built up at the base of the slope. Also there is no silting evidence in
the lake at the base of the trail going to the lake.
There appears to be two or three options that can be used. They are 1. seeding the
bank area in question with a grass mixture that has a variety of grassed such as,
annual rye grass, kentucky bluegrass and creeping red fescue. The seeding should
then be mulched with a fiber mulch. Some added protection could be gained by
planting 12 or so shrubs also, 2. the second option is construction of a retaining wall.
At least two levels of walls would be needed. Both Mr. Cavanagh and myself favor
trying to seed it first. The retaining wall can be used if seeding fails.
