EXPLAIN YOUR PROBLEM HERE:
We are requesting a variance to set the cabin back -t35-feet instead of the 200 feet for
the following reasons: 1. At 200 feet the cabin would be built where there would be no
trees. 2. Cabin would be located in a drainage area at 200 feet. 3. Without the variance
cabin would be located on the existing road which we would like to maintain. 4. Cabin is
staked where no trees would be needed to be removed to meet this variance. 5. Cabin
would be located so that a walk-out basement would be possible to the west with this var. *

In order to properly evaluate the situation, please provide as much supplementary information as possible, such as; maps,
plans, information about surrounding property, etc.

natural and beautiful on the knoll than in the valley where 200 feet would put it.

MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF THE
OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
July U, 1979
The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met at 7:30 P.M.,
Thursday, July 19, 1979 in the Commissioners Room of the Courthouse, with
Craig Anderson, Tom Donoho, Calvin Johanson, Richard Portmann and Oeorge Walter
present.
Upon notion made by Richard Portmann, seconded by Calvin Johanson
and carried, the minutes of the June 21st meeting were approved.
The variance requests were as follows:
set cabin back 150 feet instead of the 200 feet required, onAubrey Butler
Lot A, Section 5, Perham Township.Motion was made by George Walter, seconded by
Richard Portmann and carried, to approve the requested 150 foot set back from the
lake. Hardship - Best feasible place on property to build,
Alvin Swenson, build 24' x 26' garage B feet from lot line and 5-6 feet

Motion was made by Crait; Anderson to amend motion of nreviousHobart Township.

The motion was seconded by George Walter and carried, with Richard Portmann and
Calvin Johanson voting "no". Hardship - best location in the interest of public
safety with terrain of lot and location of•trees.
Arlen Johnson, build 20' x 20' greenhouse 20 feet from lake.Motion was
made by Richard Portmann to deny request for 20*.The motion was seconded by
Craig Anderson and carried.Parcel in G.L. 6, Section 6, Sverdrup Township.
John Snyder, build 14' x 20' boathouse approx, 40' back from lakeshore.
Motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by George Walter and carried, to
grant variance. Hardship - Because of terrain and distance, lie cannot get his
equipment under cover.Part of G.L. 3 of Section 21, Otter Tail Township.
Board of Adjustment 2 June 21, 1979
Aubrey Butler requested a variance to place cabin 135 feet from lake instead of
the 200 feet required on Lot A, Sec. 5 of Perham Twp. on Schuster Lake.Motion by
George Walter, seconded by Craig Anderson to deny for lack of information.Carried.
Henrietta Kochmann requested a variance to build a garage 10 feet from lot line
on Lot 27 of Roinez Beach on Otter Tail Lake, Amor Twp.Eugene Pederson spoke to the
Commission and asked for an indefinite stay on variance request.H.U. Bertelson spoke
to Comission opposing the variance application.Motion was made by George W^alter,
seconded by Craig Anderson to deny on basis of suggestion from County Attorney, and
carried with Dick Portmann abstaining.
L.H. McCluskey requested a variance for a 12* x 20* boathouse and 14* x 18*
addition 20 foot from lake on Lots 20 & 21 of Lundquist's Addition to Clitherall
on Clitherall Lake, Nidaros Twp.Motion by Craig Anderson, seconded by Calvin Johansen
to approve as presented as best solution for lot. Carried. Hardship • a small lot
lacking depth between lake and road.
Gary Burgaraff requested a variance to construct a boathouse 20 feet from the
lake on Lot 9, Block 1, Pelican Heights, Little Pelican Lake, Dunn Twp.Motion was
made by George Walter, seconded by Craig Anderson to approve building boathouse with
the slope of the hill to meet the top end of back of 'boathouse.No closer than 20 feet
to water. Carried. Hardship • terrain of lot.
Michael Giuliani requested a variance to construct a 12* x 26* addition 17'-20'
from lake on Giuliani Resort, Rose Lake, Hobart Twp.Motion by Richard Portmann,
seconded by George Walter to approve. Carried. Hardship - improvement of property
by not moving building.
Dave Pfeffer requested a variance to build a house 80 - 85 feet from lake on Lot 1 & J
of Silver Lake Estates, Silver Lake, Everts Twp.
seconded by George Walter to approve variance at 70 feet from current lake level.
Motion was made by Craig Anderson,
Stabilize bank after construction.Carried. Hardship • terrain of lot. Jim Rude
spoke to the commission but had no objections to variance application.
Albert Skar requested a variance to build 16* x 16’ addition 15 feet from lake
■# -on Lot 5 Block 1 and of Lot 6 of Trowbridge Point on Leek Lake, Candor Twp.
Motion by George Walter, seconded by Calvin Johansen to approve variance.Hardship •

Gentlemen:
We have purchased Lot A, an eight acre tract of land, on Schuster
Lake.
