THOMAS P. RASMUSSON -APPROVED
Thomas P. Rasmusson, Fargo, ND, requested a variance from the required shoreline setback of
75'. Would like to enclose an existing deck i 2' by 17'. This area would be used as a screened
porch. The property is described as Lot 38, Fair Oaks, West Battle lake in Girard Township.
The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against this request. A letter from John and
Sandra He 11 i ng in favor of granting the variance request was read for the record. After
consider at ion, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously
carried, to approve the variance as requester.. Hardship being a substandard lot of record and
the screened porch will not be any closer to the shoreline then the existing structure which is
covered by a variance granted to the previous owner in 1982. The screened porch will be in
line with the established building line and no precedents are being established.
JUDITH A. HORN -APPROVED
Judith A. Horn, New York Mills, MN, requested permission to keep existing addition which is
located on the lot line. Request1ngavarianceof 10' from the required side lot line setback of
1 O'. The property is described as Lot 19, Oak Point, Rush Lake in Otto Township. The audience
was pol led with no one speaking for or against this request. Letters in favor of this request
were read for the record from the following individuals: Kent and t-1e1ody Longerbone, Kenneth
Bt1ntley, Howard Ojala, Mary Ann and Jerry Szymonowlcz, Mervin and Betty Hansen, Harold and
Jean Wohlert, Jean and Marjorie Thompson, Merle Longerbone, and Carl and Lillian Johnson.
After consideration, motion was made by Victor Petterson, seconded by Craig Anderson and
unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 1 o· from the required side lot line setback of 1 o·.
Hardship being a substandard lot of record and no precedents are being established. The addition
Is in line with the existing building.
HARVEY LORENTZ -DENIED
Harvey Lorentz, Fargo, ND, requested a variance of 8' from the required side lot I ine setback of
1 o· and permission to split off a portion of Lot 22 and attach it to Lot 21. The property is
described as Lots 21, 22 and W'ly 25' of Lot 23, Marion Lake Lodge, Marion Lake in Dead Lake
Township. Gordan Cline, surveyor with Anderson Land Surveying, represented Harvey Lorentz.
The audience was polled wlth no one speaking for or against this request. After consideration,
motion was made by Cecl l Fem ling, seconded by John Ever ts and unanimously carried to deny
this variance request. Information contained in the applicant's file indicated that at the time a
building permit was issued to him in 1975 It was the applicant's Intent that Lots 21 and 22 be
considered as one piece of property.
