SPECIFY HOW YOUR PROJECT VARIES FROM ORDINANCE REQUIREMENTS. PLEASE BE BRIEF AS
THIS WILL BE USED FOR PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
We propose to move our boat house, our only WOAS, at least 20' back from the shoreline, and remove and
dispose of the broken concrete. It 's current location,just a few feet from the high water mark (see photos)
presents a hardship as it's vulnerable to ice and water damage, and moving it further from the lake makes sense
for the lake's environment. Moving the boathouse will cause us to lose our "grandfathered rights" of having a
WOAS that is 27 sq ft over the allowable size, requiring a variance. (Boathouse = 287 sq ft; amount allowed =
260 sq ft). The proposed new site is at least 20' from the high water mark and 40' from the nearest property
line.

Dean Laager and Kathleen Murphy -Approved the variance as requested. (8:00 p.m.)
After discussion and consideration, Michael Harris made a motion, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously
carried, to approve the variance as requested in the application and as depicted on the drawing submitted with the
variance application. The Board noted that even though the structure is slightly larger than the maximum allowable
size the proposed relocation site is an overall improvement to the lake and to the shoreline.

Dean Laager and Kathleen Murphy, part of Government Lot 2, Section 30 of Otto Township by Rush Lake,
requested a variance of-27 square feet from the 260 square foot maximum allowable area of a water
oriented accessory structure,for the\placement of a 287 square foot structure at least 20' from the ordinary
high water level and at least 40' from the side lot lines. "We proposed to move our boat house, our only

Mark R. and Kathryn 0-Eifert, Lot 8 Block 1 Ridgewood Estates, Otter.Tail River in Aurdal Township,
requested variances of 18' and 15' from the required bluff setback of 30' and a variance of 38' from the
· · . required ordinary liigh water level setback of 100' for the replacement of a 1 O' by 20' deck 1.2' from the top
of the. bluff and 62' .from the ordinary high water level and for the· replacement of-a 1 O' by 12' deck 15' from
'· the top of the bluff and 62' from the ordinary high water level. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for. or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer
made a-motion, second by Paul Larson and carried with Cecil Femling voting no, to approve variances of
18' and 15' from the required bluff setback of 30' and a variance of 38' from the required ordinary high
water level setback of 100'. for the replacement of a 1 O' by 20' deck 12' from the top of the bluff and 62'
from the ordinary high water level ·and for the replacement of a 1 O' by 12' deck 15' from the top of the bluff
and 6Zfrom the ordinary high waterilevel. The Board noted that the proposed project is maintenance to :
the existing decks.
Peter and-Katrina Doll-Denied. (8:12 p.m.)
Peter and Katrina Doll and Iona Tenter, part of Government Lots 1, 2, and 3, Section 8 of Edna Township
by Grunard Lake, requested a variance to subdivide a 2.5 acre tract from an existing 83.51 acre parcel.
The minimum size required for a metes and bounds parcel within the shoreland area is 5 acres. Iona
Tenter and Thomas Schlavin appeared with the applicants at the public hearing. The audience was polled
with no one speaking for-or against the variance as requested. A letter from Peter and Katrina Doll -
providing additional informatio'il regarding the requested variance was noted for the record. A letter.from
Duan·e J. Antonsen opposing the variance as requested was read for the record. After discussion and
. consideration, Cecil Femling made a-motion, second by Rod Boyer and carried with Michael Harris_and >
Paul Larson voting no, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship unique to the property
had been shown that would allow for the .granting of the variance as requested and the granting of the
variance as requested would create a substandard metes and bounds parcel.
