Because of the topography of the lot, it is also necessary for us to seek a variance of approximately 20 feet from the setback(Please see second sketch, enclosed.)from shoreline requirement.As the lot is located on a peninsula, there is a ridge vdiich
runs parallel to the shoreline vdiich is treeless, level on top,
and which seems to be the natural building site. However, in
order to locate a 24-foot-wide house on that site, the minimum
distance from the lakeshore to the house would be approximately
80 feet rather than the 100 feet required.
The lot slopes off sharply beyond this ridge, so to build farther
back would be impossible without very extensive fill, vdiich we
could not afford. Also, there are many large trees which we
wish to preserve.
In order to properly evaluate the situation, please provide as much supplementary information as possible, such as: maps,
plans, information about surrounding property, etc.

Dolores Tutor. Ottertail, MN, requested permission to place second dwelling on one
lot described by metes and bounds description in Government Lot 2, Section 23, Leaf
Lake Township, or split lot into two 2.5 acre parcels by metes and bounds description.
Ms. Tutor was represented by her sister. Marguerite Nelson.

After considerable discussion, motion was made by Tom Stringer,
seconded by Craig Anderson and carried ,„to deny, no adequate hardhip shown.
N.■James D. Hansen, Fargo, ND, requested permission to place dwelling 80 feet from lake
rather than the required 100 feet, on Lot 12, Peninsulas, Dora Township. AFter dis
cussion, motion was made by Frank Lachowitzer, seconded by Craig Anderson and carried,
to deny, no adequate hardship shown, next lot owner constructing building at 100'
set-back.
Douglas Kramer, Henning, MN, requested permission to remodel second story of garage
for second dwelling on Lot 2, Rainbow Lodge, Girard Township. Mr. Kramer indicated
If he did not appear for the hearing to consider his application withdrawn. No ap
pearance by Kramer.
Marlow Davidson, Inver Grove Heights, MN,requested permission to locate a 1,500
gallon holding tank between two cottages, approximately 5' from each cottage, on
the E 72' of Lot 7, Block 2, of Crystal Lida Beaches.After discussion, motionwas
made.by George Walter to approve variance, taking Into consideration the waiver
received from the State of Minnesota Department of Health, and also Mr. Davidson's
acting in good faith in obtaining information from the Department of Health, hard
ship being no alternative location on lot.
The motion was seconded by Frank Lachowitzer and carried with
Tom Stringer and John Everts voting "no".

We wish to apply for a site permit in anticipation of building
a vacation home on our lot on East Spirit Lake (The Peninsulas,
Lot 12, Block 1).
We plan to begin construction in late May or early June, 1983•
Enclosed is a scale drawing of the lot, with the proposed
building site located. Hoffman Backhoe, Vergas, Minnesota, will
be installing the septic system and will be applying for the
appropriate permit.
