Motion
Victor L and Marlys L Johnson - Approved the variance application as modified. (6:45 p.m.)
After discussion and consideration, Randall Mann made a motion, seconded by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to
approve the placement of the proposed structure no closer to the ordinary high water level than the building line as established by
the Land and Resource Management Department. The variance as approved does not directly or indirectly grant any other
variances for the proposed development. Hardship/practical difficulty is the terrain/topography of the applicants’ property and a
substandard lot of record.

\^\diox L and Marlys L Johnson - Approved the variance application as modified. (6:45 p.m.)
Victor L and Marlys L Johnson, Lot 8 Block 1, Chuck’s North Shore View Second Addition, Star.Lake in Dora
Township, requested a variance of 16’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the placement of
a mobile home 59’ from the ordinary high water level. The replacement mobile home will be no closer to the.ordinary
high water level then the original mobile home. The holding tank will be moved to meet the required setbacks. The
audience was polled with no one speaking for dr against the variance as requested. After discussion and
consideration, Randall Mann made a motion, seconded by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to approve the
placement of the proposed structure no closer to the ordinary high water level than the building line as established by
the Land and Resource Management Department. The variance as approved does not directly or indirectly grant any
other variances for the proposed development. Hardship/practical difficulty is the terrain/topography of the applicants’
property and a substandard lot of record.
LAD Properties LLC - Approved the variance application as requested with a condition. (6:48 p.m.)
LAD Properties LLC, part of Government Lots 8 and 9, Section 26 of Dead Lake Township by Dead Lake, requested
the following; a variance of 104’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of .200’ to remodel existing
structure/cabin,' add second floor/story, and kitchen and add an. attached 24’ by 29’ garage with the closest point
being no closer than the existing structure, which is 96’ from the ordinary high water level. Don and Luke Prettyman
represented the applicant. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested.
After discussion and consideration, Thomas Lee made a motion, seconded by Michael Harris and unanimously
carried, to approve a variance of 104’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of .200’ to remodel existing
structure/cabin, add second floor/story, and kitchen and add an attached 24’ by ,29’ garage with the closest point
being no closer than the existing structure, which is 96’ from the ordinary high water level as depicted on the drawing
submitted with the variance application with the condition that the existing structure’s floor and walls must be usable
and utilized for the proposed development. It should be noted that if the existing structure’s floor and walls are not
usable and utilized then the variance as approved is void. It should be noted that the approval is based on the fact
that this is a remodeling project and that the proposed addition is to the rear of the existing structure away from the
ordinary high water level.
David A. Meier - Approved the variance application as requested with a condition. (6:55 p.m.)
David A. Meier, part of Government Lot 6, Section .2 of St. Olaf Township by Long Lake, requested a variance of 64'
from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ and a variance of 14’ from the required shore impact zone
setback of 50’ for the construction of a deck 36’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience was polled with no
one speaking for or against the variance as requested. A letter from Donald Greengard in support of the variance as
requested was read for the record. After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, seconded by
Randall Mann and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 64’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 100’ and a variance of 14’ from the required shore impact zone setback of 50’ for the construction of a deck
36’ from the ordinary high water level with the condition that the existing concrete slab where the deck will be placed
must be removed and replaced with rocks and with the condition that no more that more than 25% of the total eligible
lot area can be covered with impervious surfaces. It should be noted that the proposed deck will be behind the string
line and the proposed development is not adding any additional impervious surfaces to this property.
Note- The Board of Adjustment recessed from 7:05 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Steve and Caroline Lorentzen- Approved the variance application as requested. (7:30 p.m.)
Steve and Caroline Lorentzen, part of Lot 13 and Lot 14 Henry’s Hill, Franklin Lake in Dunn Township, requested a
variance of 40’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the addition of a second story to an
existing unattached garage 60’ from the ordinary high water level. The maximum height of the garage will be 20’.
The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and
consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion, seconded by Thomas Lee and carried with Paul Larson voting no. to
approve a variance of 40’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 1.00’ for the addition of a second story
to an existing unattached garage 60’ from the ordinary high water level. Hardship/practical difficulty is a substandard
