(6:55 p.m.) Robert C and Rachel C Heuer, Lot 25 Eldorada Beach, Otter Tail Lake in Amor Township, requested a variance of 5' from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for a 30' by 43' addition to an existing structure 5' from the side lot line. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and discussion, Randall Mann made a motion, second by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship unique to the property had been shown that would allow for the granting of the variance as requested, the applicants have adequate room to place the proposed addition 10' from the side lot line and a reasonable use of the property can be obtained without the granting of the variance as requested. Larry and Sandra Stack - Approved the variance as requested. (7:02 p.m.) Larry and Sandra Stack, part of Government Lot 2, Section 11 of Scambler Township by Pelican Lake, requested a variance to construct a 40' by 54' Foltz storage building on a substandard back lot and to have the lot declared buildable. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and discussion, Michael Conlon made a motion, second by Steve Schierer and carried with Cecil Femling voting no, to declare this substandard back lot buildable for the construction of a 40' by 54' storage building. The proposed project will result in an improvement to the property. Edward E Larrivy - Approved the variance as requested. (7:08 p.m.) Edward E Larrivy, Lot 1 Block 2 Town and Country Subdivision, Wright Lake in Aurdal Township, requested a variance to have a substandard lot declared buildable. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Leona Zimmerman and unanimously carried, to declare Lot 1 Block 2 Town and Country Subdivision buildable for the construction of a 28' by 32' garage as depicted on the drawing dated September 1, 2005. Barbara Parries - Denied. (7:11 p.m.) Barbara Parries, Lot 3 Boys Shore, Rush Lake in Otto Township, requested a variance of 6' or more for the placement of 448 square foot garage 4’ or less from the lot line. The audience was polled with Julie Lovin speaking for the variance as requested. A letter from Mel and Miriam Johnson in support of the variance as requested was read for the record. After consideration and discussion, Michael Conlon made a motion to approve a variance of 6' from the required side lot line setback of 10' for the construction of a garage 4’ from the lot line. The motion to approve was based, on the unique access that the applicant has to her property and also because the proposed garage if not an oversized garage which is permitted would provide the applicant with a reasonable use of her property. This motion died for lack of a second. After additional discussion and consideration, Randall Mann made a motion, second by Paul Larson and carried with Michael Conlon and Leona Zimmerman voting no, to deny the variance as requested noting that a reasonable use can be obtained without the granting of a variance. Lowell Regstad - Approved as modified. (7:34 p.m.) Lowell Regstad, Lot 15 Block 1 Silent Haven, West Silent Lake in Dora Township, requested a variance to add an 8' by 12' addition to an existing cottage which will replace an existing deck located approximately 13' from the bluff and a variance to replace an old deck with a new deck (12' by 15') located T from the bluff. The applicant is also removing 8 yards of black dirt. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. A letter from Larry and Judy Olson in support of the variance as requested was read for the record. After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Paul Larson and carried with Cecil Femling and Leona Zimmerman voting no, to allow the 12’ by / 8' addition and to allow the deck to come no more than 4’ out from the house and make a walkway and either put the deck on the east side of the house or on the ground. The variance as approved will provide the applicant with a reasonable use of his property.
