LYMAN ANTHONY TRUTNA - APPROVED
Lyman Anthony Trutna, Wood Lake, MN, requested permission to relocate an existing garage
down by the lake to be used for a boathouse and to construct a new garage 24' by 27'6" in its
place. The existing garage is 12'by 27'6", with a height of 11'3". Property is described as
Lot 1 and 2 except tract, Pearson’s Galazen Lake Property. Stuart Lake in Nidaros Township.
After consideration, motion was made by Dan Oehler. seconded by Victor Petterson to approve
the variance request with a 20' setback from the ordinary high water mark and to allow the
boathouse to be I '3" higher than what the ordinance would allow since It will be located in a
hollow. The motion failed with George Walter and Dan Oehler voting yes, Cecil Femling and
Victor Petterson voting no and John Everts abstaining. After additional discussion and
consideration, motion was made by Dan Oehler, seconded by Victor Petterson and carried with
John Everts abstaining, to approve the variance request with a 20' setback from the ordinary
high water mark and requiring that the roof be lowered by 1 '3" within sixty days from the time
that It Is moved down to the lake so that it does not exceed 1 O' In height. No hardship needed as
this would be considered a water orientated structure.
LLOYD FISCHER - APPROVED
Lloyd Fischer, Marshall, MN. requested permission to build a fireplace that would extend out 3'
from the west side of the existing house and would be 7' in width. The fireplace addition would
be 3'from the side lot line. Property is described as Lot 1 and part of Lot 2, Abie’s Acres 1st
Addition, Star Lake in Dora Township. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts,
seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve the variance request with the
condition that the fireplace not be any closer to the lot line than the existing house overhang.
Hardship being a substandard lot of record.
KENNETH AND PATRICIA CHERMAK - DENIED
Kenneth and Patricia Chermak. Plymouth, MN. requested permission to construct a garagt^ I'
from the side property lot line and also, requested permission to construct this garage with a
second story for additional storage area and for a studio. Property is described as Lot 6 and the
west half of Lot A, Inglewood. Blanche Lake in Girard Township. After consideration, motion was
made by Dan Oehler, seconded by Victor Petterson and carr led with John Everts abstaining, to
deny the variance request as no hardship had been shown
PATRICIA C. MCLEOD - DENIED
Patricia C. McLeod, Grand Forks, ND, requested permission to construct a 2 1\2 car garage 12'
from the back lot line instead of the required 20’ setback, on Lot 6, McDonald Lake Estates in
Edna Township on Little McDonald Lake. An 8' variance from the required setback. A letter
from the Edna Township Board in favor of the var iance request was read for the record. After
consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously
cai r ied, to deny the variance request as no hardship had been shown and allowing the placement
of the garage would establish a precedent in this area. Var iance request was being based on
future building plans that did not have any exacting dimensions.
