I understand that I have applied for a variance from the requirements of the Shoreland Management Ordinance of Otter Tail
County. I understand I must contact my township in order to determine whether or not any additional variance and/or permits
are required by the township for my proposed project.

MOTION AS FOLLOWS:
Motion was made by Cecil Femling, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to
approve a variance of 2' from the required side lot line setback of 10'. a variance of 57' from
the required ordinary high water level setback of 100' and a variance of 7' from the required
shore impact zone setback of 50', The garage will be closer to the lake than the existing
structure but it is behind the building line and the sewer system will still be serviceable after
the construction of the garage. After additional consideration, motion was made by John Everts,
seconded by Dan Oehler and unanimously carried, to deny the I ’ variance from the required
septic tank setback of 1 O'. The Board of Adjustment has not varied from the health standards for
dwellings and it appears that other alternatives do exist. Hardship being a substandard lot of
record.

OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
September 3rd, 1992
The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, September 3rd, 1992 with the
following persons in attendance:

CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman George Walter,
MINUTES APPROVED-August 13th, 1992
Hearing no corrections or additions the minutes of the August 13th, 1992 meeting were
declared approved as mailed.
The following variance requests were heard:
James R. Jaeger - Approved
James R, Jaeger, Dent, MN, requested a variance of 2' from the required side lot line setback of
10', a variance of 1' from the required septic tank setback of 10', a variance of 57' from the
required ordinary high water level setback of 100' and a variance of 7' from the required shore
Impact zone setback of 50'. The property is described as Lot 8, Jaeger Beach, W. Silent Lake in
Dora Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. A
letter from Clement Rush in favor of the applicant's request was read for the record. After
consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously
carried, to approve a variance of 2' from the required side tot tine setback of 10', a variance of
57' from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100' and a variance of 7' from the
required shore impact zone setback of 50'. The garage will be closer to the take than the
existing structure but it is behind the building line and the sewer system will still be

Frances E. Jensen, Minneapolis, MN, requested permission to construct
a 29' X 12’ screen porch, 86' from ordinary hii^ water mark on Lake
Lizzie, part of G,L. 3, Section 32, Dunn Township. After consideration
notion was made by John E\«rts to allow a water orientated structure
of no more than 250 square feet. The motion was withdrawn. Motion
was then nede by John E^«rts, seconded by George Walter and carried,
with Carl Johnson voting "no", Victor Petterson abstaining, to deny,
no adequate heurdship shown.
Vemcn A. & Shirley Schroeder, Huntsville, Ala., requested permission
to purchase a triangular parcel, to be added to an existing triangular
parcel, in G.L. 2, Section 14, Edna Township, on Paul Lake, to make
a rectangular larger piece of property. Roger Scizama ^^pecired repre
senting the Schroeders. After consideration, motion was made by
Victor Petterson, seconded hy Daniel Oehler and unanimously carried,
to approve as presented, hardship being able to iirprow a lake lot
by making it less substandard, also allowing both parcels to retciin the grandfather ri^t of building.
Marjorie Grewatz, Fargo, ND, requested permission to build dwelling 14' from road ri^t-of-w^, cn Sub Lot V of G.L. 1, Section 11, Scaitt-
bler Township on Pelican Lake. After oonsideration, motion was made
ly Carl Johnson, seconded by Victor Petterson and manimously carried,
to approve a 6' varieinoe, to build 14' frxm road right-of-way, head
ship being a substandard lot of record, meeting the string test fron
the lake.

garage 9' frero side lot line (including overhang on roof) on Lot 6,
Jasger's Silent Lake Beach, on West Silent lake, Dora Township.After consideration, motion was made by Victor Petteron, seconded
by Carl Johnson and unanimously carried, to approve a one foot
variance, 9' frem property line, hardship being a snail lot of re
cord, precedence has been set with other properties similar.
Clark W. Hohman, Pelican Rapids, NN, requests permission to continue
the 2' setback for a 12' x 24' sunporch addition, on Lot 4 & SEly 25'
of Lot 3, Inlet Beach, Lida Township on Lake Lida,
tion, motion was made by Victor Petterson, seconded tjy John Everts
and unanimously carried, to deny, to cdlow would be making a sub
standard situation even more svistandard, with the building to be
renovated being the second duelling on the lot.
The Eferlyn & Charlotte Famun request, tabled from the June meeting
was withdrawn.
The Helen Adams request tabled from the i^ril. May and June meetings,
was denied \^n motion made by Victor Petterson, seconded by John
Everts cind unanimously carried.
The Ida Engstrem matter, tabled fron the i^ril. May and June meetings,
was (tenied qpon motion nade by Daniel OrfHer, seconded by Victor
Petterson and maniraously carried.
Farmers State Bank of Dent, Dent, EM, requested permission to split
a 1.50 acre parcel in Section 27, Edna Township, into two parcels.
Because no one appeared to represent the applicant, motion was made
by Victor Pettersen, seconded by John Evrerts and unanimously carried,
to table until the August meeting.
With no further business. Chairman Walter declared the meeting
adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
