Motion
Motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by George Walter and carried with Cecil Femling voting no, to
approve construction of the proposed 22’ by 20’ addition noting that the proposed addition will be 3’ further back from
the top of the bluff then the existing structure and with the following conditions: 1) no excavation or disturbance will
occur in front of the existing dwelling or in front of the location of the proposed addition, 2) all drainage from the
existing structure and frorh the proposed addition must be directed to the back of the lot, and 3) since this is a
sensitive area construction of the proposed addition must be delayed until the Spring of 1998 (after the frost is out of
the ground).

OF THE
OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
October 9,1997
The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, October 9, 1997, with the following
persons in attendance:
Craig Anderson
John Everts
Cecil Femling
Randall Mann
Robert Schwartz
George Walter
Patrick Eckert, Land and Resource Management
Wally Senyk, County Attorney
Call to Order - The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairman George Walter.
Minutes Approved -
Hearing no corrections or additions the minutes of the October 2,1997, meeting were approved
as mailed.
The following variance requests were heard:
D. Royce and Diane E. Smith - Approved
D. Royce and Diane E. Smith, Fargo, ND, requested a variance of 20’ from the required
ordinary high water level setback of 100’ and a variance of 10’ from the required top of bluff
setback of 30’ for an addition to an existing dwelling 80’ from the ordinary high water level and
20’ from the top of the bluff. The existing structure is 70’ from the current water level. The
property is described as the West 300’ of the East 600’ of Government Lot 7, Section 31 of Dora
Township by West Silent Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against
the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by George
Walter and carried with Cecil Femling voting no, to approve construction of the proposed 22’ by
20’ addition noting that the proposed addition will be 3’ further back from the top of the bluff then
