In order to properly evaluate the situation, please provide as much supplementary information as possible, such as: maps, plans,
information about surrounding property, etc. APPLICANT SHALL BE PRESENT AT THE SCHEDULED HEARING.
I understand that I have applied for a variance from the requirements of the Shoreland Management Ordinance of Otter Tail
County. I understand I must contact my township in order to determine whether or not any additional variance and/or permits
are required by the township for my proposed project.

MOTION AS FOLLOWS:
Motion was made by Berton Olson, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to
approve a variance from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100' for the
construction of a 22' by 28' addition to an existing cabin provided that the addition will be no
closer to the lake than the existing structure.

Ly1e R, Tweten, Vergas, MN, requested a variance from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 100' for the construction of a 22' by 28' addition to the existing cabin. The property
is described as Government Lots 4, 5 and 6 lying SE of Highway 4, Section 8 in Dora Township
on East Spirit Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request.
After consideration, motion was made by Berton Olson, seconded by Cecil Femling and
unanimously carried, to approve a variance from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 100' for the construction of a 22' by 28' addition to an existing cabin provided that
the addition will be no closer to the lake than the existing structure.

Williom H. Donaldson - Denied
William H. Donaldson, Richvllle, MN, requested a variance of 4' from the required drain field
setback of 20' for a 17' by 17' addition to the existing home. Addition will be 16' from the
drain field. The property is described as part of Government Lots 6 and 7 in Section 16 and part
of Government Lot 1 in Section 17 of Dead Lake Township on Dead Lake. A letter from
Pocahontas Resort In favor of granting this request was read for the record. The audience was
polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by
John Everts, seconded by George Walter and unanimously carried to deny the 4' variance from
the required drain field setback of 20' as no adequate hardship had been shown. After additional
discussion, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Cecil Femling to approve a variance
for the construction of a 17' by 17' addition provided there is no underground structure within
20' of the drain field or within 10' of the holding tank. After additional discussion this motion
was withdrawn.

Donald Bruns - Approved
Donald Bruns, Richfield, MN, requested a variance to sell 3 parcels of less than 2.5 acres to
property owners on Dead Lake without platting. The 3 parcels will be approximately the
following sizes: .46 acres, .78 acres and .46 acres. Each of these parcels will be permanently
attached to the platted lake lots owned by the purchasers. The property is described as part of
Government Lot 2, Section 16 of Dead Lake Township on Dead Lake. Roger Vettelson and James
Salness represented the applicant at this hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking
for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by
Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance that would allow the sale of 3
parcels of less than 2.5 acres as stated in the applicant's request provided that these parcels
will be permanently attached to the front lake lots and that a surveyor's drawing will be
submitted when these parcels are recorded. This will improve the existing condition of these
lake lots by giving the purchasers more area.
