It was also noted that had the variance request come before the Board before the fact the Board would have granted the request. . McDowell, Ottertail, MN, request a variance of either 9’ from the required north side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of an 8’ by 12’ storage shed 1’ from the side lot line and 51’ from the road right-of-way or a variance of 1’ from the required south side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of an 8’ by 12’ storage building 1’ from the side lot line. The property is described as part of Government Lot 3, Section 21 of Otter Tail Township by Otter Tail Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve a 7’ variance from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of an 8’ by 12’ storage shed 3’ from the south side lot line (location number 2 on the applicant’s drawing). Hardship being a substandard lot of record. The granting of the variance will allow reasonable use of the applicant’s property. Lyle R. Tweten - Approved Lyle R. Tweten, Verges, MN, requested a variance for a third story addition to an existing structure. The property is described as part of Government Lots 5 and 6, Section 8 of Dora Township by East Spirit Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by John Everts and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as requested noting that the overall height of the original stnjcture will not change. It was also noted that had the variance request come before the Board before the fact the Board would have granted the request. Steven A. Christianson - Approved Steven A. Christianson, Horace, ND, requested a variance of 10’ from the required road right-of-way setback of 20’ and a variance of 22’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the constoiction of a 28’ by 40’ garage 10’ from the road right-of-way, 10’ from the property line, 31’ from the road and 78’ from the ordinary high water mark or a variance of 10’ from the required road right-of-way setback of 20’ and a variance of 16’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the construction of a 28’ by 40’ garage 10’ from the road right-of- way, 10’ from the property line, 3T from the road and 84’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as Lot 8, McDonald Shores 1st Addition, Big McDonald Lake in Edna Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by John Everts and unanimously carried, to approve (Proposal A) a variance of 10’ from the required road right-of- way setback of 20’ and a variance of 22’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the construction of a 28’ by 40’ garage 10’ from the road right-of-way, 10’ from the property line, 3T from the road and 78’ from the ordinary high water level. Hardship being a substandard lot of record. The applicant has a narrow lot with water on both sides. The placement of the garage in this location will reserve adequate space for a future dwelling. It was noted that the garage doors will be at right angles to the road. Floyd F. Felton - Approved Floyd F. Felton, Dent, MN, requested a variance of 62’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for an addition to an existing structure 13’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as Lot 1, Spnjce Lodge, Star Lake in Star Lake Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by John Everts and unanimously carried, to allow constnjction of a dwelling 10’ from the edge of the septic tank and extending no more than 33’ towards the ordinary high water level. The placement of the new dwelling in this location will place it 16’ further back from the ordinary high water level than the existing structure. It was noted that the old dwelling will be removed.
