Ambrose and Sylvia Zeller - House addition approved as requested. Variance for the garage denied. (8:20
p.m.)
Motion was made by Mark Steuart, second by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 35’
from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for a 20’ by 40’ addition to an existing dwelling 65’ from the
ordinary high water level. Hardship is the terrain features and the location of water on three sides of applicants’
property. After additional discussion and consideration, motion was made by Paul Larson, second by Mark Steuart
and unanimously carried, to deny the variance for the proposed garage as no adequate hardship unique to the
property had been shown that would allow for the granting of the variance as requested and noting that an alternate
site may exist.

Ambrose and Sylvia Zeller - House addition approved as requested. Variance for the garage
denied. (8:20 p.m.)
Ambrose and Sylvia Zeller, part of Government Lot 7, Section 1 of Dora Township by Sybil Lake, requested
a variance to build a 20’ by 40’ addition onto existing building and a 32’ by 24’ garage. Property is located
on a point with water on 3 sides. The proposed building addition will be south of the present building and
furthest from the main lake. The garage is being proposed in an area that requires the least amount of
clearing and excavation. Request a variance of 35’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of
100’ for the construction of a 20' by 40’ addition to a dwelling 65’ from the ordinary high water level and a
variance of 24’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the construction of a 32’ by
24’ garage 76’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the request. After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Mark Steuart, second by
Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 35’ from the required ordinary high water
level setback of 100’ for a 20’ by 40’ addition to an existing dwelling 65’ from the ordinary high water level.
Hardship is the terrain features and the location of water on three sides of applicants’ property. After
additional discussion and consideration, motion was made by Paul Larson, second by Mark Steuart and
unanimously carried, to deny the variance for the proposed garage as no adequate hardship unique to the
property had been shown that would allow for the granting of the variance as requested and noting that an
alternate site may exist.
Timothy Hertel - Tabled. (8:40 p.m.)
Timothy Hertel, Lot 26, Block 1, Trowbridge Point, Leek Lake in Candor Township, requested a variance of
16’ from the required road right-of-way setback of 20’ and a variance of 6’ from the required side lot line
setback of 10’ for the construction of a 28’ by 34’ structure 4’ from the road right-of-way and 4’ from the
side lot line. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After discussion
and consideration, motion was made by Steve Schierer, second by Paul Larson and unanimously carried
with the applicant’s approval, to table this hearing until the June 5, 2003 meeting so that the applicant can
consider other alternatives and have an opportunity to meet with the township.
Linda J. Nelson - Denied. (8:50 p.m.)
Linda J. Nelson, West 50’ of Lot 2 and East 50’ of Lot 3, Block 1, Oak Grove Summer Resort, Pelican Lake
in Scambler Township, requested a variance of 4’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the
construction of an addition 4’ from the side lot line. The proposed addition will connect an existing garage
and an existing dwelling. Gary Nelson appeared with the applicant. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the request. After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Cecil
Femling, second by Steve Schierer, and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested as no
adequate hardship unique to the property had been shown that would allow for the granting of the variance
as requested and noting that there is adequate area to meet the required side lot line setback.
