Robert D. Mitchell, Perham. MN. requested a variance of 20' from the required ordinary high
water level setback of 150' for a 1 O' by 56' addition to an existing mobile home and a variance
so the applicant can transfer a parcel of less than 2.5 acres( 63,500 square feet) to his
daughter. The property Is described as part of the NW1 /4SW1 /4 northeast of the river,
Section 6, of Otto Township on the Otter Tall River. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson,
seconded by Cecil Femling to approve a variance of 20' from the required ordinary high water
level setback of 150' for a 10' by 56' addition to the existing mobile home. This site was
readied for construction last fall. Hardship being a substandard lot of record. Motion by Craig
Anderson, seconded by John Everts and unanimously carried to approve the transfer of a parcel
of less than 2.5 acres with the condition that a surveyor's drawing be provided. This parcel will
ha'^ adequate front footage.
alter T. Gedde-Withdrawn
Walter T. Gedde, Wadena, MN, requested a variance of 16' from the required drain field setback
of 20' for the construction of a garage. The shoreland ordinance requires a building to have a
20' setback from the drain field. The property is described as Lot 22, Block 1, Echo Ranch
Riviera 2nd Addition, Long Lake In Otter Tall Township. After additional consideration the
applicant has decided to withdraw his request.
Gil and Lucy Sorenson-Tabled
Gil and Lucy Sorenson, Fergus Falls, MN, requested a variance of 5' from the required road
right-of way setback of 20' for the construction of a 24' by 24' garage onto the existing
dwelling. The property Is described as part of Government Lot 4, Section 13 of Elizabeth
Township on Jewett Lake. Speaking against the granting of this variance request was Omar
Ersland. Also, speaking to this request were representatives of the Elizabeth Township Board.
After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson to approve the
variance as requested provided that the entrance to the garage be from the westside Instead of
from the road. No action was taken on this motion. After much discussion and consideration,
motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Dan Oehler and unanimously carried, to table
this request until the June 4th meeting for additional measurements and for the determination
of the road right of way.
