VARIANCE REQUESTED IS:Recjuesting a variance of where travel trailer is currently parked
on account of safety reasons. If trailer is parked farther back from where it currently is,
this ground soaks up alot of water when there is a heavy rainfall and beccxties very soft. There
is a revene behind the trailer. If fill is brought in it is possible the fill may beccxne
soft or even wash out. If it becomes soft, it may not support the weight of the trailer.
Where the trailer is currently parked, the ground under the trailer is solid ground even

Robert Elmer - Denied
Robert Elmer, Elk River, MN, requested a variance of 7' from the required ordinary high
water level setback of 100' and a variance of 4' from the required side lot line setback
of 10' for the location of a travel trailer 93' from the ordinary high water level and 6'
from the side lot line. The property is described as Lot 19, Block 1, Echo Ranch Riviera
Second Addition, Long Lake in Otter Tail Township. The audience was not polled as no one
was in attendance at the time of the hearing. Letters in favor of the applicant’s
request, from Mr. and Mrs. Clemenson, Steven Wirz Construction and Richard Schaefer, were
read for the record. After consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, seconded by
Leslie Estes and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested and to allow the
applicant until October 1st, 1995, to move the structure in an area that complies with the
setback requirements of the ordinance.
Orlynn and Delrae Olson and Russ and Robyn Olson - Approved
Orlynn and Delrae Olson, Eden Prairie, MN, and Russ and Robyn Olson, Urbandale, lA,
requested a variance of approximately 43' from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 100' and a variance of approximately 3' from the required side lot line setback
of 10' for a 14' by 11' screen porch on an existing deck (the roof is already
constructed). The property is described as Lot 21, Madison Beach, Clitherall Lake in
Clitherall Township.
June 1st, 1995 Meeting - The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the
request. A letter from A. W. Dickinson in favor of the request was read for the record.
After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, seconded by Craig
Anderson and unanimously carried, to table the variance request until the July 6th, 1995,
meeting for additional information and for a review of the lot to the east of the
applicant's property.
July 6th, 1995 Meeting - After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded
by John Everts and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of approximately 43' from
the required ordinary high water level setback of 100' and a variance of approximately 3'
from the required side lot line setback of 10' for a 14' by 11' screen porch on an
existing deck with the condition that there will be no further development past the
required 100' setback. Hardship being a substandard lot of record and the terrain and
topography of the applicant's lot. It was noted that the lot to the east would not be
affected by the granting of the variance request.

Dear Sirs: After looking at the Layout and contour of lot 19, Block 1, In my opinion the trailer
located on this property cannot be moved back any farther from lake because of an drainage
area located directly behind where the trailer is presently located. To try to move or relocate the
drainage area ,would be very difficult if not impossible.
