Lots 19 and 20 of Channel View are substandard lots of record and do not meet the minimum
Shore land Ordinance Standards. A variance is requested to allow the replacement of the slant
roof portion of the cabin with a gable type of roof for better snow loading and to improve water

There will be no change in the footprint of the existing structure. There will be no
part of the replacement roof that will extend closer to the river or canal than the
existing structure.
Other repairs to the cabin are detailed in the attached memo.

from the required ordinary high water level setback of 150’ for the replacement of the slant roof portion of the cabin
with a gable type of roof located 72’ from the ordinary high water level with the condition that before a permit can be
issued for the proposed project the two existing storage sheds noted on the applicant’s drawing must be removed. It
was noted that the applicant’s proposed project is normal maintenance for this structure.

Corrie Janke - Approved as requested with a condition. 6:19 (p.m.)
Corrie Janke, Battle Lake, MN, requested a variance of 32’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 100’ for an addition to an existing structure 68’ from the ordinary high water level. The property
is described as a 1.3-acre tract in Government Lot 2, Section 5 of Everts Township by Round Lake. The
audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. Corrie Janke’s Father, represented
her at the public hearing. After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, second
by Paul Larson and unanimously earned, to approve a variance of 32’ from the required ordinary high water
level setback of 100’ for an addition to an existing structure 68’ from the ordinary high water level with the
condition that no more than 25% of the total lot area can be covered with impervious surfaces. It was
noted that the applicant’s proposed project will not obstruct the view from the adjacent properties and that
the proposed addition is to the side and behind the existing dwelling.
Nancy A. Hess - Denied. (6:22 p.m.)

of 75’ for a 6’ by 8’ addition in the southwest corner of the existing structure being located 15’ from the
ordinary high water level. The property is described as 53’ adjacent to Lot 26 on easterly side of Point,
Wall Lake Point, Wall Lake in Dane Prairie Township. Bob Olson represented the applicant at the public
hearing. The audience was polled with Alfred Hensch speaking for the variance as requested. After
discussion and consideration, motion was made by Mark Steuart, second by Steve Schierer and
unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship unique to the property
had been shown that would allow for the granting of the variance as requested. It was noted that the
structure is within the shore impact zone and that the applicant’s proposed project is just to close to the
ordinary high water level.
