DuBord, West Fargo, ND, requested a variance of 98.5’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the purpose of screening in an existing deck, which is, located 101.5’ from the ordinary high water level. The applicant will be adding 6” on the outside of the existing deck. The roofline would start at 10’ and go to 15’ at the house. The screened in porch is 290 square feet in area and has a width of 20’ 9”. The proposed screened in deck is ahead of the string line. The property is described as Lot 7, Minn-Kota Beach Second Addition, Dead Lake in Maine Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by David Holmgren, second by Frank Lachowitzer and unanimously carried, to approve the application of a modified string line, which will be applied from the corner closest to the lake on the dwelling to the right of the applicant’s property when facing the lake to the corner of the dwelling, not the deck, on the left of the applicant’s property when facing the lake. Hardship is a substandard lot of record. James M. and Mary Jane Fitch - Approved as requested. James M. and Mary Jane Fitch, Sioux City, lA, requested a variance of 40’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the construction of an addition to an existing dwelling 60’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as part of Lot 20, all of Lot 21 and part of Lot 22, Kimber Beach, Blanche Lake in Girard Township. A letter from Jim and Nancy Archbold in support of the applicants’ request was read for the record. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by David Holmgren, second by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 40’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the construction of an addition to an existing dwelling 60’ from the ordinary high water level. It was noted that the proposed addition would be no closer to the ordinary high water level than the existing structure, is within the existing building line but ahead of the string line because of the placement of a mobile home on the adjacent lot, and drainage from the proposed structure will be away from the lake. It was also noted that the granting of the variance as requested will provide the applicants with a reasonable use of their property and will allow them the ability to enjoy the same rights and privileges as others in the immediate area. Cheryl Anderton - Denied Cheryl Anderton, Fergus Falls, MN, requested a variance of 3’ from the required holding tank setback of 10’ for the placement of a holding tank 7’ from the dwelling. The property is described as Lot 39, Burau Beach Third Addition, Wall Lake in Dane Prairie Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Mark Steuart, second by Frank Lachowitzer and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested noting that adequate room does exist for the placement of the holding tank 10’ from the dwelling and expressing concerns for public health. Michael Hemquist - Withdrawn Michael Hemquist, Ottertail, MN, requested a variance of 10’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the construction of a 7’ by 14’ addition to an existing building 65’ from the ordinary high water level and a variance of 8’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for an addition to an existing screened porch 67’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as Lots 11 and 12, Blase’s Beach, Otter Tail Lake in Otter Tail Township. Prior to the scheduled public hearing the applicant notified the office of his desire to withdraw his variance application at this time.
