^^^^/Iviichael Murphy - Denied as requested.
Michael Murphy, Sartell, MN, requested a variance of 22’ from the required ordinary high water level setback
of 75’ for the replacement of an existing cabin and deck with a new cabin and deck approximately 53’ from the
ordinary high water level (current water level). The proposed structure will be placed on the existing
foundation site. The property is described as Lot 7, Johnson’s Beach, Little Pine Lake in Corliss Township.
The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. The applicant noted that the
existing foundation would be removed. After consideration and discussion, motion was made by Steve
Schierer, second by Linda Bergerud and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested noting that
there is adequate room to place a dwelling behind the existing string line.
Wee Villa Resort, LTD - Approved with condition.
Wee Villa Resort, LTD., Fergus Falls, MN, requested a variance of 10’ from the required ordinary high water
level setback of 100’ for the screening in of an existing 12’ by 16’ deck located 90’ from the ordinary high
water level. The property is described as part of Government Lot 4, Section 14 of Elizabeth Township by
Long Lake. A letter from Edwin Carlson, Chairman of the Elizabeth Town Board, in support of the applicant’s
request was read for the record. The audience was polled with Marian F. Bogenreif expressing concerns with
the applicant’s request, which will be heard by the Planning Commission next week. After discussion and
consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, second by Linda Bergerud and unanimously carried, to
allow the existing deck to be screened with the condition that the screened portion of the deck cannot exceed
the string line as it currently exist on September 13, 2001 between the adjacent structures on either side of the
affected property.
James R and Diane M Lambert - Approved as requested.
James R. and Diane M. Lambert, West Fargo, ND, requested a variance to place one corner of a proposed
structure 4.4’ ahead of the legal string line. The proposed structure will be approximately 71’ from the ordinary
high water level. The property is described as Lot 27, Timberlane Beach Rearrangement, Round Lake in
Everts Township. A letter from Diane and Walt Johnson in support of the applicants’ variance request was
read for the record. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
discussion and consideration, motion was made by David Holmgren, second by Linda Bergerud and
unanimously carried, to approve a variance to place one corner of a proposed 28’ by 60’ structure 4.4’ ahead
of the legal string line. Hardship is a substandard lot of record and the location of the structures on the
adjacent properties, which creates the affects of a tunnel.
Stanely A. Jaeger - Approved bluff setback variance.
Stanely A. Jaeger, Hankinson, ND, requested a variance of 5’ from the required top of bluff setback of 30’ and
a variance of 30’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the replacement of an existing
deck 25’ from the top of the bluff and 70’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as Sub
Lot 1 of Government Lot 2, Section 10 of Clitherall Township by Clitherall Lake. The audience was polled with
no one speaking for or against the request. After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Randall
Mann, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 5’ from the required top of
bluff setback of 30’ for the replacement of an existing deck 25’ from the top of the bluff as depicted on the
applicant’s drawing. It was noted that a variance from the ordinary high water level setback is not required. It
was also noted that the proposed project requires no significant excavation/dirt removal. Hardship is a
substandard lot of record.
