Lake Region Recreational Center - Approved As Presented: A Conditional Use Permit Application stating: The site is situated on the south side of Otter Tail Lake, and is owned by a non-profit group. Camping, swimming, boating & other recreational activities take place onsite. The campground is situated approximately 30’ above the ordinary high water mark of the lake. A combination of unstable soils, poor cultural practices and human activity have accelerated soil movement into the lake. Approximately 300’ of shoreline is impacted from scouring at the toe of the bluff due to wave action caused by prevailing NW winds and a 4 mile fetch. Our project would provide toe protection, cut back the slope to 2:1, and replant using drought resistant native vegetation. This project will abate the loss of approximately 86 tons of soil annually into the lake. Completion of the project will help improve water quality, fish and wildlife habitat and reduce sedimentation that creates smaller areas for recreational use.
