Motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Bert Olson and unanimously carried, to approve a 6’
variance from the required lot line setback of 1 O' on the north property line, for the construction of a
16‘ by 20' single story storage building not to exceed 18' In height and no variances on the required
setbacks from the holding tank will be granted.

Forrest and Delores Helgerson - Approved
Forrest and Delores Helgerson, Breckenridge, MN, requested a variance of 112' from the
required ordinary high water level setback of 200' and a 12' variance from the required shore
impact zone setback of 100' for the addition of a 22' by 24' garage to an existing cabin. The
property is described as Lot 4. Minn-Kota Beach, Dead Lake in Maine Township. The audience
was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was
made by Cecil Femling, seconded by Bert Olson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance
of 112' from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200' and a 12' variance from
the required shore impact zone setback of 100' for the addition of a 22' by 24' garage to an
existing cabin.
Frances M. Harding - Approved
Frances M. Harding, Council Bluffs, lA, requested a variance of approximately 6' from the
required side lot line setback of 10' and a variance of approximately 8' from the required
holding tank setback of 10' for the construction of a garage/storage building. The property is
described as Lot 2 of the West 1 /2 of Government Lot 1, Section 26 of Clitherall Township on
Crane Lake. The applicant was represented at this hearing by Bob Richard. The audience was
polled with Eve Hartje speaking to this request. After consideration, motion was made by John
Everts, seconded by Bert Olson and unanimously carried, to approve a 6' variance from the
required lot line setback of 1 O' on the north property line, for the construction of a 16' by 20'
single story storage building not to exceed 18' in height and no variances on the required
setbacks from the holding tank will be granted.
Richard and Linnea Hagemeister - Approved
Richard and Linnea Hagemeister, Battle Lake, MN, requested a variance to subdivide an existing
1.7 acre parcel by metes and bounds description into two lots. Lot 1 would have approximately
47,900 square feet of area and 300' of lakeshore; Lot 2 would have approximately 26,150
square feet of area and 100' of lakeshore. The property is described as part of Sub Lot 1 of
Government Lot 2, Section 23 of Amor Township on Otter Tail Lake. The audience was polled
with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig
Anderson, seconded by Cecil Femling and carried with John Everts abstaining, to approve the
variance to subdivide an existing 1.7 acre parcel by metes and bounds description into two lots,
as stated in the application, with the condition that a registered surveyor's drawing will be
provided and with the condition that Lot 1 will not be subdivided further,
William J. Benard - Approved
William J. Benard, Detroit Lakes, MN, requested a variance of 2' 6" from the requiredside lot
line setback of 10'; a variance of 58' from the required ordinary high water level setback of
100' and a variance of 8' from the required shore impact zone setback of 50' for the
construction of a 15' by 26' attached garage. The property is described as the northerly 10' of
Lot 67 and all of Lot 68, Midland Beach, Little Pelican Lake in Dunn Township, The audience
was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was
made by Dan Oehler, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance
of 2‘ 6" from the required side lot line setback of 1 O'; a variance of 58' from the required

ordinary high water level setback of 100' and a variance of 8' from the required shore impact
zone setback of 50' for the construction of a 15' by 26' attached garage. Hardship being a
substandard lot of record.

Alice Stenstrom Westberg - Approved
Mice Stenstrom Westberg, Hoffman. MN, requested a variance of 35’ from the required
ordinary high water level setback of 100' for the addition of a roof over an existing patio. The
property is described as part of Government Lots 2 and 3. Section 12 of Elizabeth Township on
Long Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by Bert Olson, seconded by Cecil Femlingand unanimously
carried, to approve a variance of 35' from the required ordinary high water level setback of
100' for the addition of a roof over an existing patio with the condition that there will be no
water-oriented accessory structure on this lot.

Marjorie Grewatz - Denied
Marjorie Grewatz, Pelican Rapids, MN, requested a variance of 5' from the required 1 O' setback
for the placement of a drain field 5' from the lot line. The property is described as Sub Lot V of
Government Lot 1, Section 1 1 of Scambler Township on Pelican Lake. The audience was polled
with no one speaking for or against the request. A letter in favor of this variance request from
Philip J. Kieselback was read for the record and a letter from Floyd and Anna Belle Lecy
opposing the granting of this variance request was read for the record. After consideration,
motion was made by Dan Oehler to approve a 4' variance from the required 10' setback for the
location of a drain field 6' from the lot line. This motion died for a lack of a second. After
additional consideration, motion was made by George Walter to approve the centering of the
drain field between the two houses by the granting of a 2' variance from the required 10'
setback, subject to the approval of the adjacent property owner. This motion was later
withdrawn. After further consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by John
Everts and carried with Dan Oehler voting no, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate
hardship had been shown.
Wayne Gustafson - Approved
Wayne Gustafson, Detroit Lakes, MN, requested a variance for the construction of an addition to
the existing caretaker's residence. The existing septic tank will be 10' from the slab on grade
addition. The property has more than one dwelling. The property is described as part of Sub Lot
A of Government Lot 6, Section 6 of Dunn Township on Pelican Lake. The applicant was
represented at this hearing by Frank Hanson, Contractor. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling,
seconded by John Everts and unanimously carried, to approve a variance for the construction of
an addition to the existing caretaker's residence. It was the opinion of the Board of Adjustment
members that the variance request was reasonable when they considered the size of the
applicant's parcel.
James J. Mertes - Approved
James J. Mertes, Hudson. FL, requested a variance of approximately 5' on the right to 8' on the
left from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100' for the construction of a 40' by
