Motion
Marvin and Marlene Pooler - Approved
Motion was made by John Everts, seconded by David Holmgren and unanimously carried, to approve a variance
which would allow the applicants the ability to retain their existing 13’ 6” by 12’ 6” porch in its existing location and a
variance to place a 16’ by 24’ addition 43’ from the lake noting that before a site permit can be issued for the proposed
addition the well must be placed in a location meeting all setback requirements. It was also noted that both the porch
and the proposed addition are behind the existing string line. Hardship is a substandard lot of record.

John Gulstad Estate - Approved
John Gulstad Estate, Pelican Rapids, MN and Richard E. and Donna Mae Campbell, Moorhead, MN,
requested a variance of .33 of an acre from the required 5-acre minimum for the development of a 4.67-
acre parcel as a buildable lot. The property is described as part of Government Lots 7 and 8, Section
28 and part of Government Lot 1, Section 33 of Dunn Township by Lake Lizzie. The audience was
polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John
Everts, seconded by George Walter and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of .33 of an acre
from the required 5-acre minimum for the development of a buidlable parcel containing 4.67-acres with
the conditions that no further variances will be granted for this parcel and a registered surveyor’s
drawing must be provided at the time of conveyance.
Roger and Violet Stephenson and Viola I. Rud - Approved
Roger and Violet Stephenson and Viola I. Rud, Pelican Rapids, MN, requested the following: We
currently own parcels B and C, a 2.79 acre tract as shown on the registered surveyor’s drawing, which
has access to a public road. We wish to add Parcel A, being approximately .564 acres to Parcel B in
exchange for Parcel C, which will be added back to Parcel D. The total lake frontage will be 172.57’
and the total area will be 2.319 acres. Both lake frontage and lot area substantially exceeds the
required frontage and area for platted lots on a general development lake. There will be room for two
on-site septic systems. The property is described as part of Government Lots 4 and 5, Section 27 of
Lida Township by Lake Lida. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request.
After consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, seconded by Randall Mann and unanimously
carried, to approve the variance as requested and as presented with the condition that a registered
surveyor’s drawing must be presented at the time of recording.
Marvin and Marlene Pooler - Approved
Marvin and Marlene Pooler, Parkers Prairie, MN, requested a variance to “retain our porch which is
behind the string line and 42’ from the lake. The porch (13’ 6’’ x 12’ 6”) was built on an existing cement
•slab and we just did not think about a permit. We also request a variance to build a 16’ by 24’ addition,
which is well behind the string line. Our addition will be 43’ from the lake. (Please note the size of our
lot.) We would like the same rights and privileges as our neighbors." The property is described as Lot
24, Bergsten North Shore, Crane Lake in Clitherall Township. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded
by David Holmgren and unanimously carried, to approve a variance which would allow the applicants
the ability to retain their existing 13’ 6” by 12’ 6” porch in its existing location and a variance to place a
16’ by 24’ addition 43’ from the lake noting that before a site permit can be issued for the proposed
addition the well must be placed in a location meeting all setback requirements. It was also noted that
both the porch and the proposed addition are behind the existing string line. Hardship is a substandard
