I understand that I have applied for a variance from the requirements of the Shoreland Management Ordinance of Otter Tall
County. I understand I must contact my township in order to determine whether or not any additional variance and/or permits
are required by the township for my proposed project.

MOTION AS FOLLOWS:
Motion was made by Bert Olson, seconded by Dan Oehler and unanimously carried, to approve a
variance of approximately 18‘ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for
the construction of a 21' by 25' addition to the an existing cabin with the condition that the
addition will be no closer to the lake than the existing structure, Hardship being a substandard
lot of record.

James Milton Brouse - Approved
James Milton Brouse, Detroit Lakes, MN, requested a variance of 25' from the required
ordinary high water level setback of 100' for the construction of a home with attached deck. The
property is described as Lots 7 and 8, Block 1 of Walida Heights. Big McDonald Lake in Edna
Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by Dan Oehler, seconded by Craig Anderson and carried, to
approve a variance of 25' from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100' for the
construction of a new home with an attached deck. Hardship being the terrain of the applicant's
property, The applicant has tried to fit the dwelling into the existing terrain. The request is
not unreasonable and there does exist a terrain situation that is unique to this property.
Richard Walker - Approved
Richard Walker, Appleton, MN, requesteda variance of approximately 18' from the required
ordinary high water level setback of 75' for the construction of a 21' by 25' addition to an
existing cabin. The property is described as Raddahl Survey Government Lots 1 and 2( Known as
Lot 26), Section 3 of Clitherall Township on West Battle Lake. The audience was polled with no
one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Bert Olson,
seconded by Dan Oehler and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of approximately 18'
from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75' for the construction of a 21' by 25'
addition to an existing cabin with the condition that the addition will be no closer to the lake than
the existing structure. Hardship being a substandard lot of record.
Gerald Stainbrook - Approved
Gerald Stalnbrook, Moorhead, MN, requested a variance of 5'6" from the required side lot line
setback of 1 O' for the construction of a 20' by 2^1' garage, which will be set back
approximately 1 13' from the ordinary high water level. The east side of the garage will be
located approximately 29' from the public road, the north side of the garage will be located
10'6" from the existing septic tank and the west side of the garage will be approximately 3'8"
from the dwelling. Requested a variance of 49' from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 100' for the addition of an open deck on the west and south side of the existing
dwelling. The deck will be approximately 1 1' from the side lot line. The property is described
as the South 1 /2 of Lot 7 and the N 1 /2 of Lot 8, North Star Beach, Lake Lizzie in Dunn
Township. Herbert Johnson called in earlier in the day to state that he had no objections to the
applicant's request, The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request.
After consideration. motion was made by Dan Oehler, seconded by Craig Anderson and
unanimously carried, to approve a 3' 6" variance from the required side lot line setback for the
construction of a 20' by 24' garage, which will be located 6' 6" from the side lot line and 8' 6"
from the septic tank. After additional consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson,
seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve the addition of a 12' by 14' open
deck being no closer to the lake than the existing building. Hardship being a substandard lot of
record.
