Motion
Richard and Linda Ronnevik - Approved the variance as requested. (7:34 p.m.)
After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Michael Harris and unanimously
carried, to approve a variance of 50' from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the location of a
building site 150’ from the ordinary high water level. Hardship is the existence of an easement for the natural gas
pipeline which significantly limits the amount of available space for purposes of development.

Red Barn Investments, LLC, Lots 6, 7, 8 and 9 Block 5 Leaf Lake Pleasure Grounds and part of
Government Lots 3, 4 and 5, Section 22 of Leaf Lake Township by East Leaf Lake, requested the following;
Request Proposal for Variance on Middle Leaf Pleasure Grounds Resort
Variance No. 1 - 8’ by 20’ addition to Community Hall for bathroom. The addition will be approximately 40’
from the ordinary high water level. Variance No. 2 - Decks to Cabins 3, 4, 5 and 6. Cabin No. 3 - 8’ by
22’ deck approximately 90’ from the ordinary high water level and 18’ from the road right-of-way. Cabin No.
4 - 8’ by 22’ deck approximately 15’ from the road right-of-way. Cabin No. 5 - 8’ by 24’ deck within the
road right-of-way, and Cabin No. 6 - 10’ by 24’ deck within the road right-of-way and 25’ from the property
line. Variance No. 3 - Res (#8) add 28’ by 30’ garage to Ex. Res. Approximately 10’ from property line.
Variance if approved #1 and #3 work to be completed in 2007. Variance #2 to be completed by end of
2010. The required setbacks are as follows: ordinary high water level - 100’, road right-of-way - 20’, and,,
lot line - 50’. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested.
After discussion and consideration, Randall Mann made a motion, second by Rick Wilson and carried with
Steve Schierer abstaining to approve the placement of a 8’ by 20’ bathroom addition to the Community Hall
no closer to the ordinary high water level than the backside of the existing Community Hall, which should
place the proposed addition approximately 60’ from the ordinary high water level, to approve the decks as
requested in the variance application for Cabins 3, 4, 5 and 6 and to approve the addition of a 26.24’ wide
garage to Structure Number 8. The specific length of the garage was not stated; however, the garage must
remain at least 10’ from the lot line. It should also be noted that the variances as approved are conditioned
upon no more than 25% of the total property being covered with impervious surfaces.
Trevor and Heather Opheim - Approved the variance as requested. (7:30 p.m.)
Trevor and Heather Opheim, Lot 1 Lone Pine Beach and part of Government Lot 7, Section 1 of Dora
Township by Sybil Lake, requested a variance of 14’ from the required 50’ setback for the placement of a
holding tank 36’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion,
second by Carl Zick and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 14’ from the required 50’ setback
for the placement of a holding tank 36’ from the ordinary high water level. It was noted that the variance as
approved will provide the applicants with a reasonable use of their property. It was also noted that the
proposed location is the best location for the proposed holding tank, if not, the only location available to the
applicants.
Richard and Linda Ronnevik - Approved the variance as requested. (7:34 p.m.)
Richard and Linda Ronnevik, part of the East Half of the Northwest Quarter, part of the Northwest Quarter
of the Northwest Quarter and Government Lot 2, Section 12 of Carlisle Township by Johnson Lake,
requested a variance of 50’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the location of a
building site 150’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion,
second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 50’ from the required ordinary
high water level setback of 200’ for the location of a building site 150’ from the ordinary high water level.
Hardship is the existence of an easement for the natural gas pipeline which significantly limits the amount
of available space for purposes of development.
Scott Roberts - Withdrawn
Scott Roberts, Lot 1 Block 1 Wicklund’s Addition, Pickerel Lake in Maine Township, requested a variance
of 3’ 9” from the 20’ maximum height of a non-dwelling structure for the construction of a float plane hanger
having an overall height of 23' 9”. Prior to the meeting the applicant submitted a letter withdrawing his
variance application; therefore, the audience was not polled and a hearing was not held.
