Linda Stevenson, Minnetonka, MN, requested a variance to construct a two story agricultural barn with a height of 30', The ordinance states that non-dwelling structures will be only one story and cannot exceed a height of 18'. The property is the E 1 /2NE 1 /4 and the E 1 /2 SE1 /4, except the South 60 Acres, Section 33 of Maplewood Township on an Unnamed Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Dan Oehler, seconded by Craig Anderson and carried with Craig Anderson voting no, to approve a variance to construct a two story agricultural barn with a height of 30' with the condition that the structure will have no living or plumbing accommodations for human use. This variance is being approved due to the large acreage of the parcel and because the intended use of the structure is for an agricultural purpose. Mary M. and Willard J. Bahr - Denied Mary M, and Vv'illard J. Bahr, Fargo, ND. requested all the necessary variances for the placement of an 8' by 1 O' storage shed along side an existing boat house. The storage shed will be 20' from the lake. The property is described as the West 1 /2 of Lot 5 and all of Lots 6 and 7, Sub, Division of Lot 1, Block 3, Crystal Lida Beaches, Crystal Lake in Lida Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Bert Olson and unanimously carried, to deny the variance request as no adequate hardship had been shown. The ordinance allows only one water - oriented accessory structure. Robert Sanden - Approved/Denied Robert Glennis Sanden, Barney, ND. requested a 7‘6" variance, on the southerly property line, from the required side lot line setback of 1 O' and a variance of 2' from the required road right of way setback of 20' for the replacement of a 12' by 20' utility structure with a 1 4' by 28' structure; a 1' variance, on the north property line, from the required side lot line setback of 1 O' for the construction of a 1 O' by 12' addition to an existing dwelling; a variance of 7' 6", on the south property line, from the required side lot line setback of 1 O'. a r variance, on the north property line, from the required side lot line setback of 10' and a variance of approximately 25' from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75' for the addition of a screened in porch to the front of the existing dwelling and for the addition of a 24' 6" by 40' 6" second story to the existing dwelling. The property is described as the South 36' of Lot 9, Block 1, Bonita Beach, Otter Tail Lake in Everts Township. Motion by John Everts, seconded by Cecil Fern ling and carried with Craig Anderson and George Walter voting no, to deny the variance request for the second story addition as no adequate hardship had been shown and the granting of this request will make the lot more sub^andard. H' July I st, 1 993 Page 5 Elwood Neal Rieke - Approved Elwood Neal Rieke, Sioux City, lA, requested a variance to construct an 1 1'6" by 15' three season porch extending toward the lake and exceeding what the string line test would permit, The property is described as part of Government Lot 1, Section 32 of Hobart Township on Sybil Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance to construct an 1 1' 6" by 15' three season porch extending toward the lake and exceeding the string line test with the following conditions: that this three season porch will be considered a water - oriented accessory structure, that the boat house and the foundation v/ill be removed, that the land area v/here the existing boat house is located will be returned to its natural state, and that a construction plan that will be the least obtrusive for the three season porch will be submitted to the Land and Resource office for review. The property is described as Lot 2, McDonald Shores First Addition, Big McDonald and Mud Lake in Edna Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. A message from Robert Bonner opposing the granting of this request was read for the record. Dear Community:Re: Site Permit application Enclosed you will find a permit request filled out to the best of my ability at this time. We wish to build an Agricultural use bam in which we hope to include a hay loft over approximately 1/3 of the area of the Bam which we believe to be a 60'X40'- approximately 30' high steel and wood stmcture with a conventional "Bam" style roof. Three sides of the bam would be metal the side facing into the property would be wood faced to maintain an authentic bam look. The bam would contain a wash room with a head, shower, sink and water heater, equipment repair area, and open storage area for grain, hay, and other farm equipment. The floor would be of cement as would the apron leading into the bam. A well and septic tank would be installed by an area contractor, electrical work, plumbing, and other support contracting would be completed by area contractors. This phase of the project which we call Snow Valley Farms Inc. we hope to complete by August of 1993. We believe we are closing on the property around June 1, 1993. We are at the gathering bids stage now and will have any and all appropriate contractors contact the Land Management department when they are determined. The second phase of the project includes the building of a Log Style home which we hope to complete between late 1994 and early 1995 depending on the weather and other usual factors. For this permit I wanted the community to know our plans which include building a Bam, pasture area, nature trail, and log home over a 2 to 3year span. The Bam is 60x40', the home 50x30 (excluding a porch and deck - of 12' in two directions), the pasture will be the area between om bam and the lot line of our neighbors to the south who presently raise cattle on their pasture land abutting this pasture. The nature trail will be bmsh cut and travel throughout the property, and would be used for walking, horseback riding, garden placement, and nature areas. In reading over the regulations we did not find a permit application for the tree trimming and brush cutting but will be happy to apply if that is required by any other source or mle. The Snow Valley Farms projeet is a family agricultural project which will, we hope, enhance the area, and provide our family with an opportunity to participate with Draft horses, farming issues, gardening, and local interests. We would appreciate your issuing a permit covering the project as discussed. I have included a best attempt drawing to describe how it might look on completion. Thank you, M.E.
