Susan J. Jenson - Approved as modified.
Motion was made by Randall Mann, second by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve the placement of a
mobile home 6’ further back than the existing mobile home and 6’ from the existing garage. It was noted that the
existing deck could be retained so long as it is moved back and attached to the new mobile home. After additional
discussion and consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, second by Randall Mann and unanimously carried,
to approve a variance of 15’ from the required side lot line setback of 90’ for the placement of a 5’ 11” by 7’ 8” well
house 75’ from the lot line.

Andy and Linda Crowe - Denied
Andy and Linda Crowe, Edina, MN, and Roger and Janis Farley, Sartell, MN, requested a variance of
21 ’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the placement of a structure 54’ from
the ordinary high water level. The property is described as Lot 24, Fair Oaks Addition, West Battle
Lake in Girard Township. A letter from Dennis Christenson expressing concerns with the applicant’s
request was read for the record. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the
request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts to approve a variance of 2T from the
required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the placement of a structure 54’ from the ordinary
high water level with the same conditions and statements applicable to this request as were noted in
the variance approved on October 7, 1999 for Lot 23 of Fair Oaks. After additional discussion the
applicants (Roger and Janis Farley) would prefer that the board deny their request as the motion being
offered only establishes a building setback line and does not guarantee that the lot will be buildable
should other permits be necessary to address drainage and/or grade and fill issues. After additional
discussion the previously offered motion was withdrawn. After additional consideration, motion was
made by Randall Mann, second by Robert Schwartz and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as
requested based on the concern that the lot may not be buildable because of water/drainage issues
that may need to be addressed before development can occur.

Susan J. Jenson, Fergus Falls, MN, request a variance of 30 to 35’ from the required ordinary high
water level setback of 200’ for the placement of a mobile home 165 to 170’ from the ordinary high water
level and a variance of 15’ from the required side lot line setback of 90’ for the placement of a 5’ 11” by
7’ 8” well house 75’ from the lot line. The property is described as Lot 9, Block 1, Rostad Development,
West Lost Lake in Maine Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the
request. After consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, second by Cecil Femling and
unanimously carried, to approve the placement of a mobile home 6’ further back than the existing
mobile home and 6’ from the existing garage. It was noted that the existing deck could be retained so
long as it is moved back and attached to the new mobile home. After additional discussion and
consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, second by Randall Mann and unanimously carried,
to approve a variance of 15’ from the required side lot line setback of 90’ for the placement of a 5’ 11”
by 7’ 8” well house 75’ from the lot line.
Susan J. Sabol - Approved with conditions.
Susan J. Sabol, Savage, MN, requested a variance of 118’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 200’ for the location of an existing 12’ by 14’ shed 82’ from the ordinary high water level. It
should be noted that this shed is in the same location and replaces a 10’ by 12’ shed, which was
destroyed by a storm in the Fall of 1998. The existing outhouse is 116’ from the lake and 97’ from the
well. The property is described as part of Government Lot 9, Section 25 of Dead Lake Township by
Dead Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by John Everts, second by Robert Schwartz and unanimously carried,
to approve a variance of 118’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the location
of an existing 12’ by 14’ shed 82’ from the ordinary high water level with the condition that an existing
storage shed/boathouse must be removed by June 1, 2000. After additional discussion and
consideration, motion was made by Mark Steuart, second by David Holmgren and unanimously carried,
to approve the placement of an outhouse as far back from the ordinary high water level as possible
while still maintaining all other setback requirements with the condition that the existing house located
116’ from the lake must be removed by June 1, 2000.
