Arlin W. Abell - Approved
Arlin W. Abell, Richville, MH, requested a variance of 65' from the required ordinary high
water level setback of 100' and a variance of 15' from the required shore impact zone
setback of 50' for the enclosure of an existing 10.5' by 24' patio 35' from the ordinary
high water level. The property is described as Lots 8 and 9, Block E and vacated road
adjacent, Haggstrom's Subdivision of Res. E and F, Pickerel Lake in Maine Township. The
audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration,
motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by Craig Anderson and carried with John Everts
voting no, to approve the enclosure of the existing 10.5' by 24' patio area with the
condition that this enclosed area must be considered as a water - oriented accessory
structure. It was noted that the basic structure is already in place, that.the
classification of the enclosed area as a water - oriented accessory structure is
appropriate, and that the enclosed area is fairly centered on the applicant's lot.
Allen L. Myaer - Approved
Allen L. Myaer, Battle Lake, MN, requested a variance of 5' from the 18' maximum height
requirement of a non-dwelling structure for the construction of a 40' by 54' pole building
having a height of 23'.
21 of Dane Prairie Township on Indian Lake. The audience was polled with Willard Rieken
addressing the requested variance. After consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann,
seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 5' from the
18' maximum height requirement of a non-dwelling structure for the construction of a 40'
by 54' pole building having a height of 23'. It was noted that the applicant has
approximately 12.5 acres and that the structure will be located approximately 700' from
the ordinary high water level. It was the opinion of the Board that the applicant had an
appropriate use for a structure of this size. It was also noted that the applicant's
property is not lake shore property.
The property is described as part of Government Lot 1, Section
Tom Carew - Denied
Tom W. Carew, Wadena, MN, requested a variance to purchase a triangular parcel from the
adjacent property owner. The triangular parcel would be permanently attached to the
applicant's 3.26 acre parcel. The triangular parcel has an area of 375 square feet and
has 30' of water frontage. The property is described as part of the SWl/4 NWl/4 and
Government Lot 1, Section 22 of Otter Tail Township on Otter Tail Lake. The audience was
polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was
made by Craig Anderson, seconded by John Everts and unanimously carried,, to deny the
variance as requested as no adequate hardship had been shown. It was noted that granting
the variance as requested would make a substandard lot more substandard and it was the
opinion of the Board that adequate area is available for building that would not require
any variances.
