Gentlemen:
The variance application which you "approved" is, as you are well
aware of, no approval at all, since your "string test" restriction
eliminates the purpose and objective of the application.The deck
could be physically built with your restriction,; but it would be a
disaster aestheticaly and practically.
Your restrictive "approval" is especially onerous since there are
other residences both east and west of us that are considerably
further out than our request is for, and to our knowledge nobody
objected, including the neighbors on both sides of us.
However, I wish to thank you for helping me to make the decision
whether or not to sell the property. Purchasing everything loc
ally over the years and utilizing local contractorsbuilders,
suppliers and merchants while paying the terrifacally high non
homestead taxes while only making use of the home a few times a
year is no longer economically feasible. There is a point of
diminishing return, and that level has been reached unless one
receives something in return on occasions.

OTTER TAIL COUNTY BCARD OF ADJUSTMENT
August 7, 1986
The Otter Tail County Board of adjustment met Thursday, August 7, 1986
with the following manbers present:<
George Walter
Craig Anderson
John Everts
Marcus Wiechmann
Absent:
Roger Marty
Victor Petterson, Jr.I
Also present were:
Tim Greip, Land & Resource Management
David Hauser, Assistant County Attorney
Chairman Walter opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m., and hearing no objections
or corrections to the minutes of Jvily 3, 1986, declared same approved
as mailed.

The following applications for variance were considered:
Donald Bailey, Marshall, MN, requested permission to enclose existing
deck with roof.and screen walls, adding two feet towards lake, on Lot
13, Pickeral Lake Development, Maine Township. Bailey was represented
by Pete J. Pederson. After consideration, motion was made ty Marcus
Wiechmann to allow utilization of the "string test", building no
closer to the lake than the neighbors on either side. The motion was
seconded by Craig Anderson and carried with the following vote:
All voting in favor.

Jerry Larson, Saint Cloud, MN, requested permission to allow present
sewage line to remain as located, on prcperty in G.L. 2, Section 21,
Pine Lake Township, identified as part of Lot B. After consideration,
motion was made by John Everts to table tin til September for additional
information. The motion was seconded by Marcus Wiechmann and carried
upon the following vote:
All voting in favor

TABLED
Wallace M. Nordgaard, Wahpeton, ND, requested permission to leave
privacy fence as located on Lot 11, Block 1, Bonita Beach, Everts
ship. Hi±) Nordgren appeared. After consideration, notion was made
by Craig Anderson to deny,,no adequate hardship shewn, permission to
allcw the fence would not have been granted had application been made
prior to construction, allcw until May 1, 1987 for removal. Ihe motion
was seconded by Marcus Wiechmann and carried with the following vote:
All voting in favor
Del Ronning, Fergus Falls, MN, requested permission to construct garage
6' from sidelot line, on Lots 3 & 3A, 2nd Add'n to Bay View Heights,
Aurdal Township, After consideration, motion was made hy Marcus
Wiechmann to approve, hardship being terrain. The motion was seconded
by Craig Anderson and carried with the following vote:
All voting in favor
