Board of Adjustment 2 -December 1 , 1983 Robert Conn, Richvine, MM, requested permission to replace a 36' x 36' dwelling which was destroyed fay fire in exact location, 24' from lake on G.L. 1 & 2 of Section 27, Dead Lake Township, After considerable discussion, motion was made by Craig Anderson and seconded by John Everts to approve construction at exact location of burned out building.For the records, Mr. Stringer stated, as previously at the pre-hearing:meeting on November 3rd, that if he were the victim of similar circum^ stances, he would certainly feel greatly deprived if he was unable to rebuild closer to the lake than the current ordinance requires, Under the circumstances,- however, this is different than most people who might lose their home by virtue of old age arid cplapse or accidental casualty loss,.isuch as is in this case, there is an opportunity here of an owner of substantial acreage, to cause a structure that is obviously too close to the lake under current standards, to relocate that structure to cpmply with the ordinance, and at no great cost to Mr, Conn, It is also understood that his family's intent on the utilization of the property has been consistent vyith the spirit of good stewardship of lakeshore in Otter Tail County, but foresee the day when he or someone else in his family might not own this property and might^want to subdi-. vide the property and a precedentowould be set by having this structure placed at a location that clo^e to the lake, Mr, Lechjer in a letter gives alternatives and when dealing with a hardship situation the loss of fire is heard, but alternatives could be considered.The motion carried with Tom Stringer and George Walter voting "no". Donald R. Getz, Barnesville, MM., requested permission to allow a boathouse constructed Maine Townshipin 1976 to remain as presently located, on Lot 13, Birchwood Shores. After listening to the various interested parties, including correspondence, motion was made by Tom Stringer, to approve, hardship being able to enjoy the same privilege as being en­ joyed by his neighbors whoapparently have boat houses that are as close, or closer, to the lake, secondly not establishing a negative or harmful precedtntnin this area since that portion of the shoreline already has boathouses that are too close tothe lake, appears to be an improvement, the addition of the four feet was done some time ago, still are 24' back which should be taken into consideration.
