After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to deny the variance request as no adequate hardship had bei:m shown. BEDFORD H. AND MARCIA B. BERREY - WITHDRAWN PRIOR TO MEETING Bedford H. and Marcia B. Berrey, Underwood, MN, requesting approval to split off a triangular piece of Lot 1 of Wall Lost Lake Beach. July 8, 1991 Otter Tail County Variance Committee Otter Tail County Court House Fergus Falls, MN 56537 Dear Sirs: I am writing this response in reference to Variance Application Receipt number 99934 dated June 4, 1991, by Del wood R. Berndt. I strongly urge the variance board to reject this request for two dwellings on this lot. The reasons why I request this rejection are based on, but not limited to, the following; 1) the lot has already been cleared to accommodate a second dwelling and is currently being used by a 5th wheel camper without said variance being acted upon. Power and water appear to have been installed to the cleared area. 2) during the current usage, it has caused a potential traffic hazard not only due to its location on the curve in the road but also because of the additional parking of vehicles(including a boat) along the roadway on the curve. 3) this does give access to an additional family to the basic lot which adds to the environmental load on the lake and surrounding area. 4) by adding the additional seasonal dwelling to this single lot, it will also increase traffic on the narrow dead end private road. 5) having been a resident of this lake since the late 1950‘s, I have watched a great increase in development and traffic on the lake. All of this adds to the environmental load of the lake. 1 feel that it is our duty to watch closely so that future generations may enjoy the quality of life which currently exists on our Minnesota lakes. Berndt. He is requesting a variance to have two dwellings on his property. Lot 4 of Ironwood Beach, Fire ^513. We are opposed to this request for the following reasons; This area was developed as single family lake property and we purchased our lot because this was the kind of area we wished to live in. We had no reason to believe it would not continue as single dwelling lots. Secondly, the area which is being requested for variance is on the north side of the road, which has oeeh maihtaihed as undeveloped land by all adjacent property owners, Some owners have used it for gardening or for a garage, but the primary use as a natural area is especially attractive to us. We believe strongly in maintaining an area in which birds and other wildlife can find sanctuary. Finally, Pickerel Lake is a small quiet lake, and Ironwood Beach as it is presently developed lends itself well to this setting.
