The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. John Gunkelman, Contractor, represented that applicant at the public hearing. After consideration and discussion, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Joe Maske and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 4’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the placement of a roof on the existing (same footprint) structure. It was noted that the proposed project is general building maintenance and that the overall footprint of the existing structure will not be changed. Mary Damskov - Approved first requested option. (7:47 p.m.) Mary Damskov, Lot 3 South Point, West Battle Lake in Girard Township requested a variance to install a septic tank and drain field within 5’ of an unattached garage and 10’ from the property line or a variance to install a septic tank and drain field 5’ from the property line and 10’ from the garage. Brian Brogard represented the applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled Tony Rendz addressing the applicant’s variance request. A letter from John and Nancy Lindner in support of the applicant’s request was noted for the record. After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Carl Zick and unanimously carried, to approve a variance for the installation of a septic tank and a drain field at least 10’ from the side lot line and 5’ from the existing detached garage. It was noted that there is no other location for the placement of the septic tank and drain field. Timothy P and Patricia Montague - Approved the variance request as amended. (7:52 p.m.) Timothy P and Patricia Montague, part of Government Lot 4, Section 36 of Girard Township by East Battle Lake, requested a variance of 50’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the placement of a 22’ by 26’ addition 50’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. A letter from Lawrence and Jennifer Hilton in support of the variance as requested was read for the record. During the discussion the applicants noted that they would amend their original request to include legally locating the existing 10’ by 10’ structure. After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Joe Maske and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 50’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the placement of a 22’ by 26’ addition 50’ from the ordinary high water level as depicted on the applicants’ drawing with the understanding that the applicants will place the 10’ by 10’ shed in a legal location. It was noted that the proposed addition is no closer to the ordinary high water level than the existing dwelling and the proposed addition will not be in the shore impact zone.
