MOTION AS FOLLOWS:
Motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Leslie Estes and unanimously carried, to deny
the variance requested for the vision obstructing fence as no adequate hardship had been
shown and the fence would create a hazard. After additional discussion, motion was made by
Craig Anderson, seconded by Randall Mann and carried with John Everts voting no, to approve
a variance of 28’ from the required road right-of-way setback of 40' for the location of a
single car garage 12' from the road right-of-way. It was noted that the garage is blocked
by trees from the east and any vehicle leaving the garage will not back out into the flow
of traffic.

Scott HcDanel Goderstad - Approved
Scott McDanel Goderstad, Eden Prairie, MN, requested a variance of 100' from the required
ordinary high vater level setback of 200' for an addition to an existing dwelling and for
the construction of a 22' by 24' garage. The property is described as part of Government
Lot 2, Section 13 of Corliss Township on Bear Lake. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann,
seconded by Craig Anderson and carried with Cecil Femling voting no, to approve a variance
of 100' from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200' for an addition to an
existing dwelling 100' from the ordinary high water level and for the construction of a
22' by 24' garage. It was noted that the garage is setback an additional 35' from the
dwelling. Hardship being the terrain and topography of the property. It should also be
noted that the property contains extensive wetlands that limit the areas suitable for
building. The Board's action regarding the addition to the house formalized what was
granted as the best possible location for a dwelling in a site permit that was issued on
May 2nd, 1986.
Thomas Nathan Polifka and Kenneth J. Klein - ApprovedyDenied
Thomas Nathan Polifka, West Fargo, ND, and Kenneth J, Klein, Eagle Bend, MN, requested a
variance from the required side lot line setback of 10' for the location of a 5' by 6'
outside toilet and for the location of an 8' by 10' storage shed. The property is
described as the West 1/2 of Lot 8 and the East 1/2 of Lot 9, Big Pine Point, Big Pine
Lake in Pine Lake Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against
the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by George
Walter and unanimously carried to grant the necessary variances for the location of the
existing outside toilet. It was noted that the outside toilet had existed since 1948 and
that it was approved when the lake was abated. After additional discussion, motion was
made by Craig Anderson, seconded by John Everts and unanimously carried to deny the
location of the 8' by 10' storage shed and directed the applicants to legally locate the
storage shed by July 1st, 1995.
Forrest Wayne Hanson - Approved/Denied
Forrest Wayne Hanson, Underwood, MH, requested a variance of 28' from the required road
right-of-way setback of 40' for the location of a single car garage 12' from the road
right-of-way and a variance of 40' from the required road right-of-way setback of 40' for
the placement of a fence 6' in height and 20’ in length on the road right-of-way. The
property is described as part of the El/2 SWl/4, Section 33 of Maine Township. The
audience was not polled as there was no one in attendance. A letter from Lyndon Thompson
in favor of the variance request was read for the record. After consideration, motion was
made by John Everts, seconded by Leslie Estes and unanimously carried, to deny the
variance requested for the vision obstructing fence as no adequate hardship had been shown
and the fence would create a hazard. After additional discussion, motion was made by
Craig Anderson, seconded by Randall Mann and carried with John Everts voting no, to
approve a variance of 28' from the required road right-of-way setback of 40' for the

To Whom It May Concern:
I own the land to the North, East, and West of Forrest Hanson's building
site and I am very familiar with the location of his buildings within tnat
site. I am in favor of granting the variance that he is seeking. It is by
far the oest location that he has for a garage and it should do alot to increase
his property value and taix base. Furthermore, oecause of the many trees
that he has surrounding the txolding site, it will hardly oe noticable to the
puolic.
Sincerely,
Lyndon Thompson
