MOTION AS FOLLOWS:
Motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by Leslie Estes and unanimously carried, to
approve the variance as requested. It was noted that each parcel has access to a public
road and that the smaller parcel meets the minimum size requirements for platted lots
outside of the shoreland area that are currently being proposed for inclusion in the
County's Subdivision Controls Ordinance.

OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
June 1st, 1995
The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, June 1st
persons in attendance:

Call to Order - ihe meeting was called to orde'r at / p. m. by Chai'rman George Walter.
Minutes Approved - May 4th 1995
Hearing no corrections o'r additions the minutes of the May 4th, 1995, meeting were
declared approved as mailed.
The following variance requests were heard;
Leitha Eliason - Approved
Leitha Eliason, Underwood, MM, requested a variance to subdivide an existing 4.5 acre
parcel into two pa'rcels. One parcel would be £.5 acres and the other parcel would be £
acres. The property is described as part of the SWl/4 SWl/4, Section 3£ of Maine
Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by Leslie Estes and unanimously
carried, to approve the variance as requested. It was noted that each parcel has access
to a public road and that the smaller parcel meets the minimum size requirements for
platted lots outside of the shoreland area that are currently being proposed for inclusion
in the County’s Subdivision Controls Ordinance.

Mary Danskov - Approved
Mary Damskov, Clitherall, MN, requested a variance of fc’ from the required side lot line
setback of 10’ and a variance of 6’ from the required drain field setback of 10’ for the
replacement of an existing £0’ by £A’ garage with a £3’ by £8’ garage 4’ from the side lot
line and 4’ from the septic tank. The property is described as Lot 3, South Point West
Battle Lake, West Battle Lake in Girard Township. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts,
seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of £’ from the
required side lot line setback of 10’, a variance of 4’ from the required drain field
setback of 10’ and a variance of approximately 4’ from the required septic tank setback of
10’ for the construction of a £3’ by £3’ garage 8’ from the side lot line, 6 feet from the
drain field and approximately 3’ from the septic tank. It was noted that there is
adequate room for the servicing and for the maintenance of the septic system. Hardship
being a substandard lot of record.
Elizabeth Smith - Approved
Elizabeth Smith, C/D Bob F. Fritz, Fergus Fails, MN, requested a variance of 37’ from the
required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ and a variance of 17’ from the required
shore impact zone setback of 50’ for a 9’ by 1£ to IS’ addition to an existing upper deck.
The property is described as part of Government Lot 7, Section 11 of Elizabeth Township on
Long Lake. Bob Fritz Y'-epresented the applicant at the hearing. The audience was polled
with no one speaking fo'r oy" against the Y'equest. After consideY'ation, motion was made by
Randall Mann, seconded by Craig AndeY'son and carY'ied with John EveY'ts voting no, to
approve a variance of 37’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ and
a vaY'iance of 17’ fY'ora the required shore impact zone setback of 50’ for a 9’ by 1£ to 18’
addition to an existing uppeY' deck with the condition that no other stY'uctuY'-es and/cY'
water - oriented accessoY-y structures can be located in front of the existing structure.
It was noted that the variance as appY'oved provides a Y'easonable use of the applicant’s
pY'opeY'ty and also limits future additions in fY'ont of the existing building.
Terry Greenwaldt - Approved
Terry Greenwaldt, Henning, MN, requested a variance of 5’ from the IS’ maximum height
requirement of a non-dwelling structure for the construction of a 40’ by 46’ pole barn
having a height of £3’. The property is described as part of Government Lot 4, Section £0
of Leaf Lake Township on West Leaf Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking foY-
or against the Y'equest. After consideY'ation, motion was made by John EveY'ts, seconded by
CY'aig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 5’ fY'om the 18’ maximum
height Y-equirement of a non-dwelling stY-ucture for the constY'uct i on of a 40’ by 48’ pole
barn having a height of £3’. It was noted that this structure will become part of an
existing farmstead that has other stY'uctuY'es closer to the ordinaY-y high water level than
the pY'oposed stY'uctuY'e.
