Randall Mann
Kyle Westergard, Land and Resource Management
David Hauser, County Attorney
Michael Conlon
Paul Larson
Steve Schierer
Called to Order - Randall Mann, Chair called the meeting of the Board of Adjustment to order at
6:30 p,m.
Minutes Approved -
The Board of Adjustment approved the minutes of the April 7, 2005 Board of Adjustment meeting as
mailed.
The Board of Adjustment considered the following applications for variance:
Irene Burrows and William Paape - Approved as requested with a condition. (6:30 p.m.)
Irene Burrows and William Paape, Lot 10 Block 1 Timberlane Hills, Otter Tail Lake in Everts Township,
requested a variance to have substandard back lot declared buildable. Randall Mann, Chair, polled the
audience with Agnes G Macal speaking for the variance as requested. Letters from Charles and Cheryl
Sherbrooke and from Rick Bleichner in support of the variance as requested was read for the record. After
consideration and discussion, Cecil Femling made a motion, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously
carried, to declare Lot 10, Block 1 Timberlane Hills a buildable lot with the condition that all development
must be behind the building/site line. The variance as approve will provide the applicants with the ability to
enjoy the same rights and privileges as others in this immediate area and is consistent with past Board
decisions.
Lawrence G Ulsaker - Approved as requested with conditions. (6:35 p.m.)
Lawrence G Ulsaker, Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter and Government Lots 3 and 4, except
platted and except tracts. Section 12 of Maine Township by Pickerel Lake, requested a variance to
subdivide a 5,249 square foot tract from an existing 92-acre tract for the purpose of permanently attaching
this 5,249 square foot tract to the easterly portion of the adjacent parcel currently owned by Albin and Ada
Sundberg. The westerly portion of Albin and Ada Sundberg's property would be permanently attached to
the adjacent property owned by Paul and Helen Sundberg, thereby, allowing Paul and Helen Sundbergs’
existing garage to be placed completely on property owned by Paul and Helen Sundberg. Currently, there
exist two parcels and after the completion of the proposed subdivision, there will still only be two parcels.
Sonja Peterson and Paul Sundberg represented the applicant at the public hearing. Randall Mann, Chair,
polled the audience with Susie Benhardus speaking for the variance as requested. After consideration and
discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Michael Conlon and unanimously carried, to approve
the subdivision of a 5,249 square foot parcel from an existing 92-acre tract for the purpose of permanently
attaching the 5,249 square foot parcel to the easterly portion of the adjacent property occupied by Albin
and Ada Sundberg with the following conditions; 1.) the westerly portion of the property occupied Albin and
Ada Sundberg must be permanently attached to the adjacent property occupied by Paul and Helen
Sundberg (noted registered surveyor’s drawing dated 01/19/05, 2) a registered surveyor’s drawing must be
provided at the time of conveyance, and 3.) the area within the back lots cannot be included when
calculating imperious surface coverage for front lot development.
