Discussion of the Octobers, 1994, Meeting - Dean R. Fjeld
On Octobers, 1994, Dean R. Fjeld, Maple Lake, MN, requested a variance of 47’ from the required ordinary
high water level setback of 75’ for the addition of a three season porch to an existing dwelling and for a 12’
extension of the existing roof 28’ from the ordinary high water level. After consideration and discussion, a
motion was made to deny the above stated variance as requested. Part of the discussion at that public
hearing centered on the possibility of allowing the applicant a water - oriented accessory structure. Due to an
oversight the motion made on October 6, 1994 did not include any language that would grant the variances
necessary for the applicant to proceed with the construction of a water - oriented accessory structure.
Recently the applicant requested a site permit for the construction of a water - oriented accessory structure
with the belief that everything was in order based on the discussion of the Octobers, 1994 public hearing. The
office denied the site permit as requested based on the action taken on October 6,1994, therefore, the
applicant requested a review of the previous hearing by the Board at this meeting.
After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, seconded by Craig Anderson and
carried with John Everts voting no, to amend the October 6, 1994 minutes to read as follows;
Motion made by Cecil Femling, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as
requested, but to allow the applicant to construct a water - oriented accessory structure centered on the front
of the applicant’s dwelling with the following conditions: 1) the structure cannot exceed 260 square feet in total
area, 2) the structure cannot exceed 10’ in height and 3) no other structures will be permitted ahead of the
building line.
