Neil and Kathryn Lerfald - Withdrawn
October 9, 2003 meeting - The audience was polled with Myron Brandner speaking against the proposed easement
variance as requested. A letter from Neil and Kathy Lerfald requesting the Board of Adjustment to table there request
for one month was read for the record. A letter from David Hauser addressing a portion of the applicant’s request was
also read for the record. After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Steve Schierer, second by Paul
Larson and unanimously carried, to table this variance hearing until the November 6, 2003 meeting as requested by
the applicants. November 6, 2003 meeting - Neil Lerfald contacted the office on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 to
inform the Board of Adjustment’s secretary of their intention to withdraw there variance request.

A tract of land in Government Lot Two (2) of Section Fifteen (15), Township One Hundred
Thirty-six (136) North, Range Forty-two (42) West of the Fifth Principal Meridian in Otter Tail
County, Minnesota described as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at the Northwest comer (iron stake) of Lot Number Six (6), Block Four (4), of “Lida
Shores”, plat of which subdivision is on file and of record in the office of the register of deeds of
said county; thence running by the following courses and distances, viz:
North 29 degrees 16 minutes West 135.91 feet to an iron stake; North 36 degrees 53 minutes
West 282.0 feet to an iron stake; North 52 degrees 02 minutes East 179.0 feet to an iron stake;
South 41 degrees 16 minutes East 491.0 feet to an iron stake on the southeasterly line of the
dedicated public roadway as shown on the plat of said “’’Lida Shores”, being a point in the
northwesterly line of said Block 4 of “Lida Shores”, which point bears North 50 degrees 28
minutes East 25.00 feet from the Northwest comer of Lot Njamber Eleven (11) of said Block 4;
thence South 50 degrees 28 minutes West 50.00 feet in the northwesterly line of said Block 4 to
an iron stake; South 65 degrees 47 minutes West 90.0 feet in the northwesterly line of said Block
4 to an iron stake; and South 81 degrees 23 minutes West 110.00 feet in the northwesterly line of

SUMMARY OF VARIANCE REQUEST
Currently there are three building sites on the property in question, Lot 10, Block 4 of
Lida Shores, which is vacant. Lot 11, Block 4 of Lida Shores, which contains a residential
structure, and a back lot parcel which contains another residential structure. Our proposal
is as follows:
1. We request permission to combine Lot 10 and Lot 11 into one building site,
thereby reducing the total number of residential structures from three structures to
two structures and preventing a separate residential structure ever being placed on
Lot 10.
2. We request permission to establish an easement across the West twenty feet of Lot
10 for the benefit of the back lot. This would not be a controlled access because
the primary use of combined Lots 10 and 11 will be for residential use by the
owners of Lots 10 and 11, who plan to use all of Lots 10 and 11 for residential
purposes, including the construction of an attached garage which will be placed
partially on Lot 10 and partially on Lot 11.
Whether this request is granted or denied, there will be access to Lake Lida over Lots 10
and 11 by two separate residential structures. By granting this variance, the total number
of potential residential structures will be reduced and an additional septic system will not
be placed on Lot 10 for purposes of serving a new residence.
