(7:38 p.m.) After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Ward Uggerud and unanimously carried, to approve a variance for the construction of a 9' by 12’ entry addition which would attach the existing dwelling to the existing garage with the condition that the following existing impervious surfaces must be removed: 1.) the concrete on the north side (right side of the proposed addition as you face the lake) of the proposed 9’ by 12’ addition and 2.) the impervious surfaces on the north side of the garage. The variance as approved does not directly or indirectly grant any other variances for the proposed development. Assessor and the MN DNR bk 072011-001 April 14,2015 Robert M. Nudell - Variance application approved with a condition. (7:38 p.m.) Robert M. Nudell, Lot 1 Inlet Beach First Addition, in Lida Township by Lake Lida requested the follow ing: 16.6% of lot is covered by building and 33.3% is impervious surface. I w^ant to add a 9’ by 12’ entry which would bring my building area to 17.6% and not increase impervious surface area of 33.3%. (Requesting a variance of 8.3%). The audience was polled with Jim McBride seeking clarification of the proposed development and after receiving clarification indicated his support of the proposed development. After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Ward Uggerud and unanimously earned, to approve a variance for the construction of a 9’ by 12’ entry addition which would attach the existing dwelling to the existing garage with the condition that the following existing impervious surfaces must be removed: 1.) the eoncrete on the north side (right side of the proposed addition as you face the lake) of the proposed 9’ by 12’ addition and 2.) the impervious surfaces on the north side of the garage. The variance as approved does not directly or indirectly grant any other variances for the proposed development. Douglas K and Cindy L Gustafson - Requested septic system variance denied and side lot line variance modified. (7:47 p.m.) Douglas K and Cindy L Gustafson, part of Government Lot 2, Section 14 of Paul Lake in Edna Township, requested the following: We request a setback variance of 4’ from the lot line. One foot closer than the existing structure. Enclosing the garage from free standing to an attached structure, the garage portion of the new structure will be 10’ from the drain field, we’re requesting a variance for that, the required setback is 20’. A variance is requested in the allowed impervious surface percentage allowed. The existing buildings are 19.68%. We will reduce the total impervious by 127 square feet, still over 25%, over by 4.77% total of 29.77 percent. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and discussion, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Thomas Lee and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested for the structure setback from the septic system and to approve a variance for the placement of the proposed (garage etc.) development 7’ from the side lot line noting that the variance as approved will reduce the overall amount of impervious surfaces coverage by at least 127 square feet. The applicants' proposed development is general maintenance. The variance as approved will not allow for the attachment of the proposed garage to the existing dwelling unless the septic system can be moved to another location. Sheila Carney - Tabled (7:55 p.m.) Sheila Carney, Lot 1 Block 2 Engstrom Beach and part of Government Lot 1, Section 19 of Edna Township by Big McDonald Lake, requested the following: The required waterfront setback does not allow for a reasonable buildable area due to the short distance from the right-of-way to the water's edge. Due to the property not having a neighboring structure to the west, we would like to propose a waterfront setback of 50’ from the ordinary high water level. This distance is consistent with the neighboring cabins to the east along Enstrom Beach. Requesting a variance of 50' from the required 100’ setback. The applicant was represented by her architect (Mike Dodgson). The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and discussion, Thomas Lee made a motion, second by Paul Larson and unanimously earned, with the verbal approval of the applicant’s representative, to table this hearing until the May 12, 2016 meeting for additional information regarding the site (buildable area) and the proposed structure.
