Motion
Tony and Karen Grindberg- Variance application approved as requested. (7:37 p.m.)
After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, seconded by Rick Wilson and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as
described in the variance application dated Julyl9, 2017 and as depicted on the drawing submitted with the variance application.
Hardship/practical difficulty is a very small lot. It was noted that the location of the new sewer system is being recommended by a system
designer and that the proposed addition is in line with the existing house and is away from the lake. It was also noted that the granting of the
variances as requested is consistent with past decisions of the Board of Adjustment.

Holly Schuler - Variance application approved as modified and conditioned. (6:47 p.m.)
Holly Schuler, Lots 1,2 and 3 Block3 Bonita Beach, Otter Tail Lake in Everts Township, requested the following: We are asking fora
variance that omits the impermeable surface created by an existing driveway that is used only by two neighbors for ingress and egress
of their lots. This driveway only services access to the neighbors lots and is their only current access. The audience was polled with
the following individuals addressing the requested variance: John Askegard, Peter Johnson, James McChesney, Dale McKeever and
Steve Schwantz. After considerably discussion and consideration, Darren Newville made a motion, seconded by Chris McConn and
unanimously carried, to reduce the overall size of the existing driveway as shown on the drawing submitted with the variance
application to no more than 12’ in width with an assumed length of 130’ for a total of 1560 square feet of area of which only one-third
of the 1560 square foot area or 520 square feet will be considered as impervious surface when calculating total impervious surface
coverage for the applicant’s property with the condition that a document granting ingress and egress to Lots 7 and 8 Block 3 of Bonita
Beach across Lots 1,2 and 3 Block 3 of Bonita Beach must be prepared and legally recorded with the County Recorder’s office. It
should be noted that the reason only one-third of the above described area will be counted when determining impervious surface
coverage is that the applicant does not need this road to access her property; however, it is currently used by two other property
owners to access their property. The variance as approved does not directly or indirectly grant any other variances for future
development. It should also be noted that no more than 25% of the total eligible lot area when applying the calculation method noted
above can be covered with impervious surfaces.
(Tony and Karen Grindberg - Variance application approved as requested. (7:37 p.m.)
_ _ iy and Karen Grindberg, Lot 11 San Dee Cove Beach, North Lake Lida in Lida Township, requested the following: Remove
existing patio and build 14’ by 30’ addition to existing cabin location no closer than 4’ from north lot line with use of existing
concreate foundation to keep new addition flush with cabin on north side and add second story. Install new sewer system as shown
per drawing with request of 1 ’ from lot line in order to meet setback from well to the north. Reduce existing shed from 280 square
feet to 220 square feet. Remove garage door and install sliding door. The audience was polled with Wayne Johnson explaining the
need for the requested sewer system variance. A letter from A. Conrad Posz in support of the variances as requested was read for the
record. After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, seconded by Rick Wilson and unanimously carried, to
approve the variance as described in the variance application dated July 19, 2017 and as depicted on the drawing submitted with the
variance application. Hardship/practical difficulty is a very small lot. It was noted that the location of the new sewer system is being
recommended by a system designer and that the proposed addition is in line with the existing house and is away from the lake. It was
also noted that the granting of the variances as requested is consistent with past decisions of the Board of Adjustment.
Catrina Peterson - Tabled
Catrina Peterson, Lot 3 Pischke -Taylor First Addition, Spitzer Lake in Leaf Mountain Township, requested the following: Replace
existing dwelling. Requesting a variance to construct a dwelling and a non-dwelling no closer than 100’ from the ordinary high water
level. Reason for request unable to meet 200’ setback due to lot size and lake on both sides. All other requirements would be met.
July 13, 2017 meeting - The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. Two letters from
Dwight Eric Robertson in opposition to the granting of the variance as requested and noting that he was the legal owner of the
property where placed in the file. Catrina Peterson presented a letter from Ryan D. Fullerton, Attorney with Pemberton Law which
disputed Mr. Robertson’s ownership claim. After discussion and consideration, Thomas Lee made a motion, with the applicant’s
(Catrina Peterson) verbal permission, to table the public hearing on this application until the ownership issue has been resolved. This
motion was seconded by Darren Newville and unanimously carried. August 10,2017 meeting - A letter was received on Friday, July
28, 2017 requesting that the public hearing be tabled until the September 14, 2017 meeting of the Board of Adjustment.
Ishaug LLC - Tabled.
Ishaug LLC, part of Government Lot 4, Section 12 of Scambler Township by Pelican Lake, requested the following: Requesting
permission/variance to have two (2) campers on property, for total 3 dwelling. We are not requesting water or sewer hookups, as they
are moveable. June 8, 2017 meeting - A letter from Vernon and Alyce Smith in support of the variance as requested was read for the
record. A letter addressing the variance request from Lucy Tabatt was read for the record. An email and pictures from Kevin Biffert
was noted for the record. The applicant was represented at the public hearing by Lori and Diane Ishaug. The audience was polled
with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion, with
the applicant’s verbal permission, to table their request until the July 13, 2017 meeting of the Board of Adjustment so that the
applicants can have an opportunity to discuss with Land and Resource Department the procedures and process for a cluster
development. The motion was seconded by Darren Newville and unanimously carried.

Re: Variance request by Tony and Karen Grindberg on Lot 11, San Dee Cove
Trail, Vergas, NW 56587.
Normally I oppose the granting of variances unless there is a serious hardship.
This request involves two parts, affecting both lot lOand Lot 12.
I am the owner of Lot 12, and am aware of some of the problems involved
placing a drain field because of the need to follow requirements of Land and
Resource Management. They are NOT planning to build a structure, but position
a drain field there. Because their drain field will be only one foot away from my
Lot line, I was a little worried but after checking the details of their problem, and
the fact that that part of my Lot is primarily wooded, 1 do not object to their
request to place their drain field one foot from my property.
The second part of the request has to do with extending their cottage back along
the same footprint, which is only 4 feet from the Lot line of Lot 10. I feel that is
a reasonable request and if the owner of Lot 10 does not object, I assume you
will grant the request by the Grindbergs.
Sincerely,
o;
A. Conrad Posz‘
