J. Mike and Jan D. McNally - Approved as modified with conditions. (7:11 p.m.)
Motion was made by Randall Mann, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 59’
from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’, a variance of 9’ from the required shore impact zone
setback of 50’ and a variance of 4.5” from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of residential
development 4T from the ordinary high water level, which is assumed to be the current setback of the existing house,
excluding the deck, with the following conditions: 1.) the deck and rails cannot exceed 3’ in height, 2.) no more than
25% of the total lot area can be covered with impervious surfaces, 3.) the existing sunroom must be setback even with
the front of the existing house and 4.) the existing shed must be placed in a location, which is at least 10’ from the side
lot line and out of the shore impact zone. __L—

Request for Variance:
We propose to “rebuild” 60% of our cabin, which was built in 1940 and
added on to six times by 1960.
The highest floor to ceiling height is 7 feet, and the lowest at 6’ 1”. The
new floor of every addition was lowered between 1.5 and 4 inches from the
existing floor. The west footings of the main cabin appear to be the only
footings that would pass an inspection. All others are on minimal (4 inch)
footings with two rows of block, or built on a 4 inch concrete slab with no
footing. The Floor joists span lengths up to 20 feet end to end with 2x6
boards laying flat'on the dirt for central support.
We propose to tear down and rebuild the main part of our cabin, leaving
the deck and sunroom as is, and add 6 x 15 to the roadside to make the cabin
a square (28 x 26).
To be able to achieve our goal, we need a variance for the following:
1. 4.5 inch variance from the 10 foot lot line setback.
2. A 9 foot variance in the shore impact zone, realizing that we
passed the string line test by 7 feet, and would be rebuilding in the
same exact location.
