Minnesota MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT March 30, 2000 The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, March 30, 2000, with the following persons in attendance; Cecil Femling David Holmgren Randall Mann Berton Olson Steve Schierer Mark Steuart Pat Eckert, Land and Resource Management David Hauser, County Attorney Call to Order - Wayne Stein, Secretary, call the meeting to order at 6;25 p.m. Chair- The first order of business was the selection of the chair for the 2000-year. The secretary called for nominations. A motion was made by Cecil Femling and David Holmgren to nominate Randall Mann. The secretary called three additional times for other nominations. Hearing no other nominations, the motion to elect Randall Mann as chair of the Board of Adjustment for the year 2000 carried unanimously. Vice Chair- Randall Mann, Chair, then called for nominations for the position of vice-chair. Steve Schierer and David Holmgren nominated Cecil Femling. Randall Mann, Chair, called three additional times for other nominations. Hearing no other nominations, motion was made Mark Steuart, second by David Holmgren and unanimously carried, to direct the secretary to cast a unanimous ballot for Cecil Femling as vice-chair for the year 2000 Board of Adjustment. Minutes Approved - Hearing no corrections or additions the minutes of the December 9, 1999, meeting was approved as mailed. The following variance requests were heard: Gregory A. and Deborah L. Jacobs - Denied Gregory A. and Deborah L. Jacobs, Detroit Lakes, MN, requested a variance of 30’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the construction of a 24’ by 32’ storage structure 70’ from the ordinary high water level (lake). The property is described as Lot 3, Leek Lake Heights, Leek Lake in Candor Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship unique to the property had been shown that would allow for the granting of the variance as requested by the applicants and a reasonable use of the property can be obtained without the granting of the requested variance.
